Postby DeerDawg » Sat Mar 02, 2013 7:59 pm

Anybody got any idea what asphalt is running these days? Looking at doing a driveway.

Wondering same thing. How wide by long and how thick would a ton do?

Depends on a number of factors, but 1 ton of regular surface mix laid at a couple of inches at a decent temperature should do close to 100 sq ft if rolled good.

1 sqyd of asphalt 1" thick weighs approx 110 lbs

X sqft / 9 = X sqyd
X sqyd * X inches of thickness = X
X * 110 lbs = X / 2000 = X Tons of asphalt required * +/-$85 = $X

Clear as mud?

I think I can figure it by this, or get a ballpark idea.

One ton should do around 80 SF at 2" thick. So you're talking about a little over $1/sf at 2" thick.

How thick is a normal asphalt driveway? 3-4"?
