Turkey comp...

Postby H20 Fowl » Fri Mar 01, 2013 8:29 am

How many of you guys would be interested in a small turkey competition? I was thinking of having a small entry fee, with the winners getting a small prize (t-shirt and bragging rights)

The rest of the money could be used for site maintenance.

Or we could do a free one, just for bragging rights!

for exmaple you could kill a 4 greenheads (two banded), a mallard/black cross, and a mallard/gaddy cross and smash a hot blonde on the way back to the ramp and call it a hell of a day
and THAT is a duck hunt.

i say just mississippi birds cause i dunno if enough folks will make it outta state, and i hear those kansas birds get purty big  . maybe an instate and out of state division if there's enough?

ya'll decide on how to score it. i've personally never been a fan of weight for scoring a turkey, but it's up to you guys. picture with turkey's beard and spurs against a ruler.

maybe bonus points for public land birds? jk

also, just birds you pull the trigger on cause i'm sure a lot of will call some up for others.

that's all i can think of now.. we'll need entry fee numbers and what not.

gonna be fun!

Quinn can you work on shirt designs? Also Do we wanna do teams or not? I was thinking two man teams, and the best 3 birds combined for each team!

How bout just use NWTF scoring system, must have pics of digital scales with bird for the weight, pics of beard length, pics of each spur measurement. Guess that's the only way to be fair.

Or we can do away with weight all together, and just use beard/ beards x 2 and spurs x 10. Whether it is restricted to MS birds or any bird is up to you. Doesn't matter to me... Put a twist on it, like you have 7 days to enter the bird, and you can only enter 1. NO UPGRADES. That'll make people sweat on whether or not to enter a bird early. ...Just some suggestions.

If Joel will get on here and make a sticky, we can get this rolling. He's probably doing a panten-pro-v comercial somewhere!

$3 or $5 entry fees? The winning team of 2 will get a shirt if we do this/
