The SXP from what I gather is pure junk. Buy a used 870 with a 26 inch barrel and slap a .665 Primos Jelly head and Heavy 13's and get it son.

I called one up two years ago for him and he smoked him at 34 steps with the little 20......

I have four 870's in the safe....... Two of which I have used in the past for turkey.... The last three I have taken with the older one(3 in) have been at ranges of 12 to 25 yards and either took their head off or was busted up so bad they looked like they had a red sock full of sand for a head..... I shoot magnum blends, jelly head choke, and a fixed power scope...... My main gun is a browning lite gold auto in a 10 gauge, rhino choke, nitro shells...... I like my 10, although I've never killed a turkey over 30 yards with it....... Bottom line..... IF YOU WANT A TURKEY SMASHER, get you an 870, buy a jelly head choke for like $30 I think, and some federal fc's or magnum blends...... Gonna shoot a 20 gauge this year though.....

I have put down my win super x2 in favor of the 20g 870 3inch youth model with jellyhead choke and dot scope that I set up for my son. Small, easy to tote and deadly accurate out to 40yds. Packs much more of a punch than you would think.

I can't believe nobody else is using this.... Encore 12ga turkey barrel with a kicks choke and Winchester xtended #5's. Absolutely deadly! Short, light, only drawback is the one shot but it is hands down the best turkey gun I have ever owned. Purchased the youngster a 20 gauge barrel to use but may try it out this year myself!

26" barrel...? Heck, that is my duck gun. I'm looking for something with a barrel length in the low 20's.

IMO, Remington has screwed up by discontinuing the turkey edition. Now the only 23" turkey gun they make has the pistol grip stock. They combined the waterfowl and turkey editions and that gun has a 26" barrel. Which is the gun that DUCK HUNT posted the picture of.

The only choice now is to find a used 870 or go with the pistol grip 870.

Browning BPS 12 ga, 3 1/2", 26" barrel, .668 Star Dot choke, Hevi Shot 3 1/2" 2 1/4 oz #6's. Better hold dead on inside 30 yds...

Probably going to take my Citori out this year as well. Same Star Dot choke shooting 3" Hevi 13 white shell #6's in the top barrel and Improved Mod shooting Xtended Range #6's or lead #5's in the bottom barrel for those up close, personal encounters...
