Report: 6 yr old daughter in the duck blind...

Postby CRAWDUCK » Thu Dec 27, 2001 12:22 am

Thanks for all the support from those who responded with tips on my daughters 1st hunt. I can really tell you guys have been there because everything you said was true! It was by far the best hunt of my life and we didn't pull a trigger! Took my 18yr old son with us and the three of us laughed and had the time of our lives. We had a few greenies give us a look but not much else. Got there plenty early, convinced her to sit in the blind while we put the dekes out (took some convincing, ate, stayed warm, took pictures and had a great time. About 8 she said she was getting cold and had to go to the bathroom. Walked out of the pond over to the woods and tried to no avial to go......(little boys sure are easier to deal with in this area). Heading back to the pond to pull up the decoys she decided she liked walking in the water with her waders and she wanted to do it by herself! (like her mom) About halfway through with the pick up I hear a big splash; one cold and wet little girl laughing her head off! We made short work of the pickup and jumped in the Pug for the short ride to the car to dry clothes and a blanket, never a complaint. While her brother and I loaded up she fell sound asleep. Breakfast in Flora at the cafe and the most perfect hunt and Christmas eve was history. I was heading out the door to deer hunt this morning at 4am and she jumped up and asked if we were going duck hunting.......It can't get any better......

Thanks for the support guys, take a kid hunting for them and for you......
