Honest Injun question for the Ole Miss folks
Could all of this been possible without the removal of "Dixie", Col. Reb, and other oppressive things that these recruits wouldn't have liked? Do you think it would have mattered? If so, was it worth it? Im being serious here?

Good question and one i honestly can't answer. There's no doubt things are different, but i can't help but think it didn't hurt.
Still hate the black bear.

No crystal ball, but making those changes sure did not HURT recruiting. It did cost 'em a little cash from me, though.

Definetly did not hurt but I don't think it is really that big of differnce especially the mascot. I think the flags would have more impact than the mascot.
Re: Honest Injun question for the Ole Miss folks
I do not honestly think, without some 40 year old white dude in some media outlet shining a direct light on it, that anyone paid any attention to the damn Col Reb mascot. I really really don't...
the flag definitely...Dixie MAYBE, somewhat....
I really think this recruiting class is a product of a perfectly assembled staff for the circumstances and a lot of pieces falling into place with what were best high school seniors in the country for this class...so I give more credit to star alignment and hard work than the symbolisms and what not...
as a matter of fact, I'd almost want to argue the constant light shined on Ole Miss the past 5 years over the removal and/or debate about removal of symbols is possibly more problematic than letting them lie quiet in small town Oxford, MS.

I don't think Dixie would have any affect on recruits.

GulfCoast, be carefull using "recruits" and "cost em a little cash" is the same post!
Re: Honest Injun question for the Ole Miss folks
I am sure some MSU coach has tweeted my post as a "confession" already....

Word on the street, Saban has reversed the trend and is making the "recruits" pay.
