after 50 some odd days, Cash and myself are whooped. i'm sure i'll miss it in two weeks but it's time to catch up on some sleep! with high hopes for this season, most of my expectations for a good year were filled. i've been lucky enough to guide on a good piece of ground in one of my favorite areas of the country for the past couple years, and have enjoyed every minute of it. our farm reported similar stories as others; the opener to Christmas was the best i've ever had, especially for mallards. it slowed down the week Christmas and New Years, having to deal with a full moon and ice. the shooting picked up steadily through January but ended on a surprisingly poor last weekend. all in all it was a great year.
despite warm temps, opening weekend produced a pile of greentops.
nothing is better than killing a greenhead, but working in a speck is a close second. canada goose of the south!
with over 700 retrieves this season, running across those rice fields every morning are tough on a dog but he never missed a beat!
