4 wheeler disaster
4 wheeler disaster
After all these years of making jokes at Jelly's expense I had a Jelly-esque moment of my own this weekend. It would reflect poorly on me if I didn't share it.
Friend of mine(we'll call him Scar) called me and wanted to go deer hunting. Due to prior engagements we decided to leave around 330am on Sat morning. I loaded up the honda rubicon and we rolled out. Somewhere between Clinton and Bolton disaster struck. I felt the truck lurch once. I looked out of the side view mirror and watched my 4wheeler slide out of the back of my truck and onto I-20 at some 80MPH. We saw sparks. We saw it bounce. We saw more sparks. Stopped on the inside shoulder and backed up quite rapidly. Hopped out with my flashlight and ran back up the interstate praying a car wasn't going to hit it. I didn't really care about the ATV but I didn't want someone to get killed or hurt. I found the Louisiana Guard Dog that I use to hold it in place. Found the folding aluminum loading ramp. Finally found the bike. It was sitting right side up in the median. I jumped on and it started right up. The only real damage it suffered was the right handle bar got bent when it apparently rolled in the median.
Apparently I didn't push the Guard dog in far enough and when I thought I was putting the hitch pin through the receiver and tongue of the guard dog, I was only putting it through the receiver. I've loaded this bike hundreds of times and never done anything so stupid. You never know when bad luck will strike.

We should have sent it UPS to Bill's son. Of course that might have caused thousands of dollars of therapy for him.Blackduck wrote:I wonder what happened to that pink doll we left in the blind? Seems like about 4 yrs ago.

Had the same thing happen but with a boat that came off the trailer ball. The tongue dug into the asphault and that boat went end over end landing upside down. We were in high school on spring break going fishing. I just knew we were going to get an booty chewing but all Dad said was he was glad nobody got hurt. It could have been a really bad deal.
