I've got a 2.5 started choc female. She is force fetched an handles. I hunted her fresh off the trainer last year an she did great little sloppier than the trainer liked on running a blind retrieve an hand eking but that was fine by me so she could use her nose an learn to hunt. I didn't get to do much training in the summer due to work an harvesting. Started the season off rusty but still getting ducks. Figured it would get better but It hasent. The last hunt we went on an she wouldn't even want to get off the stand, had a bird fall right out front in wide open water an she would t get it or even make a attempt to go. I sent her on a blind retrieve an she walked! An that was it for be I blew a fuse I came un glooed on her an I know that didn't help. I don't know what to do now.
I am wondering if its a good idea to send her to another trainer bc I wasn't too pleased. Or if there's something I can do to get her back on track. Might be best to send her back off some were. Any body have a suggestion on a trainer any were. I'm located in Louise just north of Yazoo city. Thanks

Re: Lab help
How close is the trainer, or whoever you bought the dog from? Sounds like you need to find out how this dog was put together so you know what tools you have to work with. There are many suggestions that could be thrown out to you, but your dog may not be prepared for just any kind of drill work. Do you know if this dog was put through Carr-based Basics?

Re: Lab help
Have no idea what kind of training that is. She came from good line of retrievers bothe sides. When she works bumpers in the yard she does great an has tons of drive. It's just this past season she has acted like its too much work to go get them am after the time an money I have in her that's not going to go over too well. I know she has it in her if seen it but getting it back out of her is the problem now.
One thing it could be is I have bee. Hunting her with another dog a few times they get along good but I don't know if she thinks he's there to get the. An she can watch or what

Re: Lab help
That makes me wonder if she ONLY had Basics, but was not Transitioned to the level of fieldwork she's now being asked to do. Contact the trainer. That would be a good idea anyway.
