Ask DS: water depth Polaris Ranger

Have a new Polaris Ranger.....still feeling out what it is capable of doing. It is awesome in mud, I can take it places my 4 wheeler wouldn't go.

Water is way up at our duck camp....little nervous to take it into some of the deeper water. How deep of water can you take a Ranger in without causing problems? I know some of the water I want to "try" is 2 feet deep....maybe 3 feet in some places....thoughts?

The manual on my old 2005 model said 27 inches. I would not go past two feet with my new one. Be sure to check the engine and clutch air intake connections for being tightened properly at the factory. The vents are up high on the sides.

I was in water last week with my ranger 800XP that was well over two feet. There were no troubles. Look at some youtube videos of some of the stuff folks have taken their Rangers through. It will give you a real appreciation for what a Polaris Ranger can handle.

I have been a rider in a Ranger the past two days and I have been very impressed with it. Lots and Lots of water varying in depth. Water over the floor boards for most of the ride. We hit a couple of low spots that were 2+ ft. The Ranger had Ditch Witches on it. Not sure of the size.

I use as my gauge the different materials on the running board right there at your left foot. You can safely go up to the black from the floorboard, until it meets the green of the body itself.

Iv driven the 800 crews through creeks out west that water would come over the hood but never driven extended period of time that deep. Its an uneasy feeling when you cross a creek out there and the current pushing you down a little ways before you actually get out of the creek.

I go 2ft in mine all the time. However, if you have the "dry" storage under the drivers side everything in there will be soaked. I have heard that you dont want to get it to the seat level. I have never gotten the water level that high on mine.
