Re: Whats the law on dog hunting
JD I aint trying to fight you on the issue and I understand where you are comeing from. All I am saying is bad things happen. And the mile away is an example think about it before you blast away at it. But problem is the county you hunt has areas just for dog hunting and those dogs sometimes leave that area when running. Maybe you need to talk to the dog hunters about it instead of bashing all of us on the net. And the issue is outlaws because that is what you are calling all dog hunters.
If it's a hen we know who killed it.

I've not bashed anyone or the way they hunt.
i have only simply stated that i think it is unethical for a man to run his dog on posted ,private land whether or not he does it on purpose or not has nothing to do with Ethics.
and as far as talking to dog hunter, read my past post, i have caught three begals this year and call the number on the collar with no answer.
caught two more walker dogs end of dog season, called the owner, his response " Yup, they have been out there for about 4 days, we lost them on thursday morning after the batteries died, i can't come get them today to get them"
so i take them to the nearest check in station and drop them off, i mean what else am i supposed to do? take them home and feed them? leave them on my land?
what kind of responsiblility is that ?

If you cared about the sport and it's future enough that you wanted it to have a good name, then you would. That's exactly what I'm saying.strongriverducker1 wrote: So your saying it is my duty to police all the dog hunters in the state? Right!!.
As for your outlaw still hunters example, I support the enforcement of their punishment just as I support the trespassing dog hunters being punished.

We need to make a push for Bienville National Forest to make the same changes Homochitto National Forest has just made.
Homochitto National Forest Hunting with Dogs on the Homochitto National Forest
The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) will continue to enforce regulations (Public Notice of Rule Number W17 3434) concerning hunting with dogs on the Homochitto National Forest. The regulations were first adopted at the beginning of last year's hunting season.
From November 1, 2012 - January 31, 2013, all dog hunting groups or individuals hunting with dogs must obtain a permit to use dogs to hunt any animal or to train dogs on areas open to deer hunting with dogs on Homochitto National Forest. A copy of this public notice of rule can be obtained at http://www.mdwfp.com.
"This regulation began last year as a pilot project to help improve safety for hunters, landowners and all forest visitors," said Homochitto District Ranger Bruce Prud'homme. "Last year was a success. Forest visitors, including people who hunt with dogs, had a safe and enjoyable experience on the National Forest. At the same time, nearby landowners and community residents had fewer complaints than previous years."

Go talk to them and tell them POLITELY if it happens again you are going to catch their dogs and sale them. Then you are going to burn their camp down and kick their tail.

But how will a permit stop people from doing what they are doing? We have always hunted the forest with no problems. That just sounds like a way to keep people out of the woods.
