Saltwater marsh, far from any resident populations of domesticated birds. This particular bird was alone, but 95% of what we are holding are gadwall, supplemented by limited amounts of widgeon. If you only had the bill and referrred to Lemaster's you would conclude gadwall drake. His feet and under rump were very cool.

After looking at it a little more. I could definitely see where it would be a gadwall with an odd color phase to it. There is nothing different about his body shape or size. I had him sitting next to a regular gadwall for a comparison. I'm sure I will never see another one like him again. I'm definitely getting it mounted.

Could be a Luecistic gadwall, luecisim is reduced pigmintation in animals and does happens with ducks. Where albino is the whole animal luecisim could be limited to portions of an animals body. That could be the case with yours, nice bird.

I killed a luecistic gadwall a few years ago, will never see another one like it.
