Why do you have to own a drivers lic to get a state stamp?

My friend has a 17 year that doesn't have a license yet. He can't get him a stamp per mdwfp license purchasing line. The state they have to enter his license number to process the stamp. Told the same thing by a local vendor. I called the rules and regulations of mdwfp and they won't answer. No one can answer my question as to why you have to drive to duck hunt. Help

To prove the state you live in??? If he doesn't want to get a DL the he needs to get an ID made. It's like $18

Try buying it on line at MDWFP. If he's got a hunting license then MDWFP has him in the system by some number. I have found I can use either my social or DL on the MDWFP to get to my profile. Once you get to the profile it should all be downhill. Look at his license and see what it's number is as well and try it.

State ID won't work either I don't beleive but a school ID will. Does not make any sense.

The do but they are tied to your drivers license number apparently. You cant' just have someone pick one up for you and sign it anymore. You can the federal though, not the state

Can't I buy two actual stamps at Walmart, and then give one to my kid as long as he puts it in his license and signs it?

The online purchase is somewhat of a pain in the ass, I tried to go online and buy mine this week but my DL expired a couple months ago, and well there is no way to renew it over here so I'll have to wait and do it when I get home.

Medic11 try using your social it should work that way as well it's what I used tonight instead of my dl.

My license expired while I was in Afghanistan. My mom contacted license place and they issued me a new one even though I wasn't there. Try giving them a call or shooting an email explaining your gone and they may help you out.

Maybe I won't get in trouble for this especially since the office is closed until Monday and this'll get the kid hunting before then.

Get the dad to buy the stamp, I don't think there is a limit to how many an individual can buy, then give them to whomever. They are valid as long as they're signed by the person hunting with it. An unsigned (floating) stamp isn't valid.

Only catch is if the kid loses it or doesn't have it on his person when hunting, there is no way the officer can verify the kid has one by calling the radio room (because it's in the dad's name). As opposed to buying it in the kid's name and it being on file as such. Of course you couldn't legally give a resident stamp to a non resident for hunting purposes, etc.

I'm trying to remember but I think each stamp comes with a seperate orange license paper. You can tear off the bottom part and sign that and it is valid( because you won't get the actual state stamp at Walmart or wherever.)

I wrote a guy a ticket for no stamp a couple years ago and he brought in the matching part of the orange paper to court and I asked the judge to dismiss it. It says on that orange part "must be signed to be valid" or something like that.

Free78, I call the DL place there in Hattiesburg but since my address has changed they cannot renew over the phone or computer, not a big deal I'll just get both licenses when I get home.
