DOVE HUNT NEAR OXFORD ON SATURDAY AM???

Postby Hammer » Wed Aug 25, 2004 7:13 pm

Not sure if I will haul the RV up on Friday afternoon and skip the traditional Saturday morning hunt near Raymond or do the hunt here and make a day trip to Oxford for the Rebel's booty kicking of the Memphis TigerCubs but on the chance I decide to spend Friday night in Oxpatch, is anybody gonna take me hunting Saturday morning? I would travel 60 miles from Oxford for a good hunt...Comments?

Hammer,

Who do you hunt with in Raymond? I grew up in the area and know several people with fields. Just curious.

Thanks,
Pondman

Peyton Manning? No National Championships
Tee Martin? 1997 National Championship

Eli Manning? No SEC or National Championships
Michael Spurlock? Wait and see

Eli did not block, tackle, catch the ball, run the ball, intercept the ball, punt or kick field goals...All he did was handoff and pass which allowed opposing defenses - LSU in particular - to pin their ears back and go after him....Hence his 16-36, 1 TD effort against the Tigers in the biggest game at Ole Miss since the early 1970s...He was a great QB but the system we use did not maximize his talents nor did his talents maximize the system...Spurlock is a better fit for our system as yall will soon see...

If you think Ole Miss was all Eli you dont know your football...Simple as that....Ole Miss has been ranked in the year end Top 25 3 times in the last 7 years: 1997, 1999 and 2003...Eli played on one of those teams...OLE MISS is a football PROGRAM...One of the Top 20 programs in the country (out of about 120 Division 1 football schools)...Not bad for a small school in the poorest state in the country... The Rebels will do no worse than 7-4 this year, maybe as good as 9-2 if they catch the breaks...We will beat Memphis by at least 10 points and it wont really be that close....Get ready for smash mouth, run it down your throat ball with a vastly improved defense (due to better coaching in the DB)... Liek Bear Bryant said,
"3 things can happen when you pass the ball and 2 of them are bad." Why pass when you can run, eat up the clock and keep the opposing teams offense off the field? That will be the story of Ole Miss football for the first 6 games this year. We will have to pass to beat UT, AUB and LSU but not ARK or MSU, so 8 out of 11 games will be run, run, run.

All of this talk about Memphis is really funny to me. One good year in forever and all of a sudden they are going to come into Oxford and beat the Rebels? Not gonna happen. Joe Lee Dunn's gimmick defense works if you have to throw but it is mediocre at best against the run. I bet we dont throw the ball 15 times the whole game because we wont have to.
