My Abolt likes Federal Premium 165's
Re: What's your favorite .308 round?....
My 308 likes just about any ballistic tip in 150 gr. it hates core lok for some reason they tend to shoot low and to the right for some reason.

remington 150 grain core lock. all you need. Only had a couple in many many years run off but they didn't run far. Rest drop in their tracks.

I roll my own, my AR like 168gr. nosler custom competition BTHP, pushed along by 46gr of H380, shoots 3 shot groups at 100yds that measure .460 center to center, at 200yds the stay under 1 1/4 in.

Re: What's your favorite .308 round?....
My Browning BAR loves the 150 gr Remington Core Lokt's...but the deer and hogs don't seem to care for them too much.
I haven't done a lot of reloading for it yet (just one bullet and one type powder), but so far I haven't been able to load anything it likes better. I'll eventually find something it likes as well as the Core Lokt's (I hope).

It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

Ol cheap (or is it possible to say cheap now days) box of 150 gr power point from Winchester..... Have taken several die hard big boys with the round from 25 to 325 yds and piled every one of em up...... One of the best calibers out there IMO...

I bought a pile of bullets last week and shot several of each Friday afternoon. This is my choice!Chuckle12 wrote:165gr Nosler Accubond
I'm shooting a Model 700 that I think was manufactured in '64. It was my first rifle, handed down from my grandfather, and as a kid I couldn't shoot it at all. Part of the problem was me, part was probably the cheap scope that was on it, and the other part was probably the old hand-me-down bullets, but what ever the problem was I always did good to get a pie plate sized group. I took the same gun with a new scope and these Noslers and shot 3/4" groups all afternoon, then killed three coyotes and lost a pig with it on Saturday. Tickled to death!

My rifle's favorite round is:
Federal nickle case (I weigh my cases after trimming)
WW120 primer
45.5 gr IMR 4320
Sierra 150gr BTSP (I weight-match my bullets)
And just little 'jump' between bullet shoulder and barrel lands.
So, what have you decided on (out of curiosity)?

The 165gr Nosler was my favorite, but the 165gr Federal Premium shot identically. I have no qualms about interchanging the two. I did shoot some coyotes over the weekend with the Noslers, and the exit wounds were just nasty! Haven't shot the Federals at an animal yet, but ,since I'm now almost out of Noslers and can't find anymore locally, I hope to put a Federal through a deer next week in south AL.Anatidae wrote:So, what have you decided on (out of curiosity)?
