Nope not a "feel good" piece for OM, but it's just like I told my buddy ScottyLee u gotta look at it this way..... Negative? Yes but they've pretty much taken everything they could away (flag,Dixie,col...etc) not much left to take. Just listen to Dixie at the end and be done with it ! Gave me chills 2 btw....

i didn't care for it one bit, honestly. dunno why is was on espn, because it had very little to do with sports.

The most ironic thing to me was that the modern day James Meredith looks like a black Col Reb.

Champ - the only thing I can figure is giving deserved credit to the undefeated 62' team since they never really got any due to all the caca happening on campus.champcaller wrote:i didn't care for it one bit, honestly. dunno why is was on espn, because it had very little to do with sports.
I'm going to try to catch the first half tonight or tomorrow before I form an opinion though.

It is the 50th anniversary of the only undefeated, untied team in Ole Miss history.champcaller wrote:i didn't care for it one bit, honestly. dunno why is was on espn, because it had very little to do with sports.

Re: 30 for 30
i know about the undefeated season and yeah they talked about it through the documentary, but i feel like they didn't show enough of the modern day Ole Miss. however, i'm not the most objective person on the subject.
Re: 30 for 30
Wright was interviewed on Finebaum yesterday. I thought he did a great job of explaining why the documentary was put together like it was, how it related to sports, and why he thought the documentary should have been done.

In short, he recognizes that it is important to bring the past back to light to show how far the state of MS and Ole Miss has come. He also said his intent was to show that without the football team it is entirely possible that Ole Miss could have been shut down. I have not seen the show yet. He admits that the beginning is difficult to watch, but he though necessary to tell the story. He also added that the ending (slow Dixie) brings him to tears. He goes onto explain that it brings back memories of his childhood and watching Ole Miss football with his father.

Re: 30 for 30
I really enjoyed this one, as I have nearly every 30 for 30 (especially Marcus Dupree and Roll Tide/War Eagle). My only complaint, is that I wish Wright Thompson (being a MS native) would have focused a little more at the end about the current status of the campus and the strides and changes that have been made not only on campus but in the State as well. There are so many northern people, who see this stuff and these images, and honestly think things are still unchanged in Mississippi. Just my two cents.

I guess most folks know that Wright is a Clarksdale native...son of a lawyer that passed away several years ago from cancer...and is a senior writer for ESPN the Magazine. He is an interesting guy. He used to cover LSU football for the Times Picayune back in the Saban days. He and Saban have no love loss because Wright broke the cheating scandal on Saban forcing teachers to give preferential treatment to players.

History is History...Did Wright have Ole Miss best interest at heart? Did Wright have Mississippi's best interest at heart?
The truth is the truth.
I heard him on Finebaum also. i was hoping more interview with the players in documentary.

I know that Wright did not intentionally show OM in a bad light. Facts are facts. I went to elementary, junior high, and high school with Wright, and he has been an OM fan his whole life.

In the opening few minute sit is mentioned that one reason the school was not totally shut down was because of the football teams success that year (paraphrased). I think one of the points was supposed to be how important sports can be in hard times. How they can control things.

I agree. Wright was my down the street neighbor and his family is OM supporters. I agree they could of wrapped it up a little better but it was interesting none the less.Bully wrote:I know that Wright did not intentionally show OM in a bad light. Facts are facts.
