I'm posting this link: (http://www.mdwfp.com/news/shownews.asp?ID=74) to the MDWFP website. It has duck estimates for regions in MS. It seems like the ducks on in the North Delta (above HWY 82). MS Duck numbers
I copied the web page info for convenience of readers here. The table is scrambled, though, but the message is clear:**** the ducks are in the North Mississippi delta, not South.****
12/18/01 Water Conditions and Waterfowl Numbers in Mississippi
Temperature - 48o Surface Wind - North 5 MPH
Visibility - Limited to heavy fog but clearing as the day went on. Take off was delayed from 8:00 am to 9:30 am due to heavy fog.
Water conditions - Heavy rainfalls were reported through out the Mississippi Delta for the week of December 10, 2001. Rain amounts recorded were from 2" to 6" with localized flooding observed. Water conditions are greatly improved from the same week surveyed for years 1999 and 2001. Large expanse of water were observed in Tallahatchie, Quitman and Sharkey counties. The waterfowl surveyed were not evenly dispersed across the Delta but were clumped in large numbers on small acreages.
