society... or the way you were raised ?

Postby Thumper » Sat Aug 21, 2004 8:07 pm

A friend of mine was working doing his clinicals at the local hospital. He was assisting the doctor and a nurse with a 19 year old female patient who was pregnant with her 3rd child. The doctor was telling her that she did not need to keep using drugs while she was pregnant or there would be some side affects. He went on to say that the baby could be born deformed or retarted or worse.

HERE IS THE PART THAT I DON"T UNDERSTAND.

She told the doctor that she did not care about that ,cause if the baby came out deformed or retarted , that her goverment check would pay double if something was wrong with the baby.

WHAT THA HELL!!
Have people lost their mind ,that is a baby who can't control who his/her mama is. Has the world come to this or is that just what kind of family that she was brought up in?

Just don't make any sense

i'd say the kind of family/or lack of family she was brought up in..........babies = money...? that's a sad statement, but it's the way it is around here....they're told they get more money for every child they have...and if one has a learning disability, they get more money...now how this extra money helps this child is a mystery to me...around here, and by here I mean the mississippi delta, where democrats have become the majority instead of the minority, living off the government has become a way of life, instead of a 'crutch' during hard times...welfare has it's place, but it so desperately needs reforming....

Years ago wife sent me to the grocery to pick up some things...list had 1 lb of hamburger meat...I went to the cooler and started sifting around looking for the pack closest to 1 lb...didn't want or need 1.22 or 1.35 lbs...wanted 1lb! money was tighter then so why waste it....anyway, after bargain shopping and such, I headed to the checkout....pulled up right behind a lady of african descent with not 1, but 2 shopping carts jammed full of groceries....the lead cart had all different type of stuff, but the back cart was nothing but meat, and I mean loaded!....the only thing not meat was a bag of dogfood that was under the cart ....just before the cashier finished ringing her up she reached into her purse and whipped out a stack of food stamps.....kinda chapped my booty setting there grocery shopping after work and having to bargain shop, but i stayed calm...ain't like it was the first time i'd seen this scenerio...anyway, everything had passed by the cashier cept the dogfood......the cashier asked the lady if she was paying with food stamp...duh? the lady said yes...then cashier told her she couldn't buy dogfood with foodstamps....the lady turned to one of the 4 kids standing beside her and said...'go back there and get 10 lbs of hamburger meat....my dog likes hamburger meat better than dog food anyway."

then she pushed the carts out to a cadillac..
