win or lose, i hope it is like it used to be....a game both sides of the rivalry wanted to watch or listen to until the last play because it always came down to the very last snap of the ball to determine who was gonna tote the golden egg home!pondman wrote:MSU will lose to ...... Re: proud of the Rebels!
First of all I was at the game so yes I saw it. Second of all I will repeat myself and let you people that are football ignorant know that the return does not count into yardage. Yes the rebels played hard and have improved nobody is going to argue that. All I am saying is Ole Miss fans are acting like they played right there with Bama and Texas but yet they lost both games by more points than they scored. Anytime you lose a game by more points than you scored than you should not brag too much.hotty toddy wrote:Actually, we havent been saying the game was seriously in question but if you had actually seen the game you could see that Bama never had full control until late. And if you will look at the stats bama didn't light up the board as far as yardage goes. It's actually pretty even when you take out the kick return. The rebel D stood tall against a vastly bigger and stronger offense.mshunter77 wrote:So Ole Miss should have won this game even though they only had 200 yards on offense and only had two drives the whole game they actually moved the ball. They threw three picks, dropped two because of Bama players colliding with each other. These interceptions were the result of pressure applied by the defense not just thrown by a QB standing in the pocket. Bama spent half of the fourth quarter purposefully killing the clock on a 7 minute plus field goal drive. This game was never in doubt and ever in question. As I said before I think the rebels are vastly improved from last year but if I read the stuff ole miss fans have been saying and not watched the game I would think the score was reversed and Ole Miss had 500 yards of offense and Bama had 150.
As I said it wasn't a win but it was improvement, so Hotty Toddy!!!!
Re: proud of the Rebels!
New rule - Ole Miss fans shall refrain from making any statements which might be construed as positive regarding Rebel football. That is all.

I like the close ones, but l have to admit I enjoyed every second of last year's game.donia wrote:win or lose, i hope it is like it used to be....a game both sides of the rivalry wanted to watch or listen to until the last play because it always came down to the very last snap of the ball to determine who was gonna tote the golden egg home!pondman wrote:MSU will lose to ...... Re: proud of the Rebels!
Ole Miss suprised me. i was really expecting a blow out. From Alabama's previous games it should have been a blow out. Alabama didn't show up to play and Ole Miss did. Had they had a quarter back then Alabama would have been in trouble. Turned into a much better game than I thought it would be.
Oh yeah, ROLL TIDE

Re: proud of the Rebels!
I too was wondering about the claim made by some Rebel fans that the kick return counted as offensive yardage. Here we've been thinking you guys were delusional and actually knew the way the game worked, when all the while some of you just don't know simple stuff like how the stats are recorded. OM did play tough, but as for yall that stated Bama was never clearly in control of the game, you obviously weren't watching the widescreen version that showed their secondary. Delusional or not, OM will win the Egg Bowl this year.

farmer ,man that was my bad on adding kick off yardage....guilty....However I knew you wouldn't have enough class to pat the Rebels on the back for a hard fought game like most of your fellow dawg fans have. For a guy that went to Delta State , u sure don't cut us any slack. For the number one team in Nation to have 17 first downs versus the delusional sec door mat to have 16? For the pie in the sky Rebels to shut out Bama from end zone in 2nd half with 254 lb down linemen? here again you jump on a Ole Miss thread to add what? Nothing......

Re: proud of the Rebels!
I was excited to see some serious slobberknocking being delivered by our defense. Have not seen that from a Rebel D in quite a while. Prewitt and Elston are two young headhunters who delivered some incredible hits last night, starting with Alabama's first drive. Nikemdiche was making plays all over the field last night --- once this freshman gets stronger with a few more pounds on him, he is going to be a beast. True frosh Issac Gross played very well at Nose Tackle and more than held his own against perhaps the best OL in the nation --- once he adds about 20 lbs to his current 255-260 weight he is going to be very disruptive. No 11 Channing Ward was involved in a lot of plays last night --- he is really starting to come on.
If this defense can continue to play hard and improve throughout this season, we will win more games than initially projected. Our punter needs to stop shanking punts. I'm 51 years old and I'm pretty certain I could have punted farther than he did on 2-3 punts. It killed us, along with the 3 turnovers, giving Alabama the field position advantage.
Next week against TAM will be another big challenge for our defense. I now at least have more hope. The future is looking brighter.

Congrats on your loss. You Bear fans amuse me highly, tickled pink to not suck as bad as last year, and tooting your horn because you didnt get manhandled as badly as expected.
State will win the Egg Bowl by 10+ points, but at least it wont be as bad as the last 3 whoopins, An early Congrats on that loss too. Go Bears

I went to State, too, just ended up at DSU. As for the pat on the back, it clearly states in my post that OM played tough. Also stated that OM will win the Egg Bowl this year, which is somewhat another pat on the back and shows that I am not one of these "State's gonna kill yall" types. Guess I am guilty as charged for being critical of your opinions and the errant facts instead of the game. It's the same $#!+ the Rebel faithful dished out Mullen's first year when we started to turn the corner. That was less than a foot from beating LSU improvement, not getting beat by more points than you can put on the board improvement.swamprooter wrote:farmer ,man that was my bad on adding kick off yardage....guilty....However I knew you wouldn't have enough class to pat the Rebels on the back for a hard fought game like most of your fellow dawg fans have. your ever met me Bullet? I aint built for Band..stay classy
My former teammate PoMonkey had a great thread the other day about posting on the sports thread. it's worth a re-read.
Forgive me to just the handful State fans that will not tolerate any Ole Miss fan patting their team on the back for a well deserved effort. If you can not tolerate reading the due praise, please skip over the thread and not run the risk of raising your blood pressure or replying like an 18 year old. To the majority of the State fans, i continue to enjoy reading your insights and look forward to watching your season unfold and hopefully a great one because you have worked hard for it. Big Game this Thanksgiving for sure. Maybe i can get Donia to cook for my tent!
