QUACK, TOUCHY SUBJECT, JUST LET ME WARN YOU, YOU'RE ABOUT TO STEP INTO A BED OF STINGING ANTS
Any Ducks at Mahanna????
Sorry to ruffle so many feathers. I was only trying to find out if Mahana was holding any ducks and it seems to be a sore subject.....I feel like I am missing something here?? I am by no means trying to stir up any **** but I am curious as to why this is a "touchy subject".
I am not from Mississippi but I was there doing some white tail hunting at a club that boarders Mahana a couple of weeks ago and I took a trip over to Mahana and I saw vitually no ducks compared to the last few years. I am going back this week and was just wondering what the report was.
To answer your question Nohere....the part of the Country that I am talking about is Mahana in Vicksburg

A couple of reasons you are getting the cold shoulder is that we don't know you or where you are from. We don't take too kindly to stranger's using our board to find out about our honey holes.
Public hunting is just that public, but don't be surprised when no one shares there private knowledge with you.
Too often people have posted about a hot spot only to find it has turned into huge pickup parking lot the next Saturday.

Long Barrel- Thanks for the explanation. By no means am I trying to steal anyones "honey hole"......didn't even know Mahana was a "honey hole".....but I understand if you say the birds are all over that in defenitly draws some attention.
Let me clarify my situation. I live in Arizona and every year I go with my hunting buddy (who is from Magee) to deer/duck hunt at his PRIVATE club that boarders Mahana. I was there opening weekend and there was not a whole lot of birds down yet. I am going back there next week and I was merely trying to get a report on if the birds were in greater numbers than opening weekend.
It's obvious that this is a tight group of guys who do not take to well to "strangers" so I will bow out of this messege board out of curtiosy and respect for your "honey holes" and stick to the boards where the people know me.
Good Luck with the rest of your season.

ded gum....and he was probaly a nice guy.
Any Ducks at Mahanna????
First of all, you must understand you will generally find more duck HUNTERS than DUCKS at Mahannah. It is one of the more crowded areas in the south delta. For many years I lived in Vicksburg which is just a few miles south of there. I had many public holes that I hunted regularly, but not ONE of them was on Mahannah because of all the aceholes. They really need to have some type of quota system to limit hunter numbers and some rules the aceholes can understand. This means making it illegal to set up within a certain distance of another hunter on the WMA, etc.
Until this happens, there will be little quality hunting there.
I don't really think anyone wants to exclude strangers. A stranger is only a stranger until they have made a few posts. I, for one, like to see the different opinions presented and occasionally offer my own. However, it is better to ask the question in more general terms such as "are there any birds in the south delta". Noone with half a brain is going to get on here and say, "yeah, we took our limit on Mahannah in half an hour". They may say "on public land in the south delta", but won't be much more specific than that. If they DO tell you, then either they haven't been hunting public land long or they are LYING to pull you off of another public area where they hunt.

Would it not be easier to ask the friend who has the PRIVATE club that borders Mahanna, rather than sign up and ask a bunch of us Axxholes that may give you **** information anyway?

10Bore, as to your last sentence, you are right. I did that a couple of times to get people away from me and on somewheres else, like Mahanna, but then I gave it a little more thought and figured out that I would be sending the snowbirds to a place that, though I don't hunt, others just like me do and I wouldn't want them raving about where I hunt, even if it was a lie.
