The Use Of Electronic Decoys On MS. State WMA's

Postby Don Miller » Fri Aug 20, 2004 7:00 pm

I know that this has been kicked around before but what are your opinions about the use of electronic decoys, including spinners of state WMA's?

Yep, there is no uglier sight than watching the sun come up and in every direction you look there are those damn spinning wings.

Ban the electronic gadgets, let jerk strings be legal! Let's get back to old school duck hunting!

Carefull guys... It doesn't matter if your for it or against it, but I don't wont the gov. telling me what I can use to hunt. If the hunters push a band on a certain type of duck actractant and open the door, the anti's will kick that door wide open.

You say "Old school". How old are we talking? The anti's might ask that no artificial calls be used. Or that motors not be used on WMA. That pretty old school.

If you think that I'm being silly, then you are seriously underestimating the anti's!

Just my .02 cents

Ducks and Bucks...point well made. Old School = market hunters, punt guns, and NO ducks...Canvasbacks are still tryin to rebound from almost complete slaughter. I myself don't feel the need for a robo duck....saw fellas using em at my local WMA last year and they flared ALL ducks, even the ones that were a mile high. I prefer to " jerk my cord" any day! Y'all have a nice day!

welp, this is an opinion based poll and ole don wasn't trying to elicit an argument from anyone...i've shared a pit w/ the dude and i can safely say we share the same opinion of the spinners...

that 'anti' argument you mentioned just don't jive in my book...they could just as easily say that ____ number of juvie dukes are killed due to lazy azzes turning on the "switch" and turn the argument about not banning the stupid things back on you...

besides, i ain't making my vote b/c i'm worried about what some 'tree-hugger' thinks, i'm casting a vote and stating an opinion b/c right's right and wrong's wrong...in my mind, flipping a switch and pulling a trigger ain't EVER gonna meet the right criteria...

if every kid knew the high i get from training my dog everyday (or most days) just to stay close to the action, driving all day just to pattern some geese, scrounging in the mud to find that hole 'just past the great oak' and finding them suckas, wouldn't be any reason for the spinners, no one would feel guilty for making a pot of gumbo, and we wouldn't be having this debate in the first place....gator

Oh yeah man, lets lay some "old school" on them ducks. Take it way, way, way back, to the good old glory days ---- live tethered hens as decoys, no limits, open season year round, vast pristine flooded bottoms, punt guns, duck boats with push poles, baiting, market hunting, skies black with ducks, sink boxes, lead shot shells, waxed canvas coats, wool caps, hip boots or no waders at all, paddlers to take you out, retrieve your ducks, and clean em for ya------yep the good ol days, when hunters were real sportsmen.

Hell, just to make it fair for the ducks this year, I'm not even going to use decoys or a call. Gonna just wade out with no waders, commando style, hide just under the water surface, breath through a straw, and pop up at the right moment and take em with a slingshot, whilst blindfolded. I'll even make sure I use steel bearings in my slingshot, instead of lead ----still gotta stay within the law ya know.
You can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning.

Po Monkey, the rubber straps on that slingshot might be considered "high tech" by some of these "purists" on here. You'd be better off just to swim up and eat it alive.
