Cutting of Brown Top Millet

Postby Crowell » Thu Aug 19, 2004 10:12 am

I have 4 acres of brown top millet that has tremendous seed production, but is actually greener than I would like due to recent rainfall. Although it was planted July 1st, the browning process is lacking. If I want to hunt it on opening day of dove season, my gut is that I need to bush hog it now and maybe cut it again closer in a week or so. I may need to burn some of it after it dies some. Someone who deals with this more than I may have a different opinion. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

Wait untill it is brown and the seed matures, or you wasted your time planting it. Sounds like it should have been planted a little earlier.
