ASK DUCKSOUTH UTV PURCHASE

Postby timberhunter » Tue Sep 04, 2012 11:46 am

I am looking to buy my dad a UTV for his birthday, but can't seem to decide which one i want to go with. He is a rather old fella so speed is not the issue. I'm looking for something that we be a good soft ride around the farm but not so bulky that it won't fit down some of the smaller fourwheeler trails. Im thinking a 2seater with a good 4x4 system.

Any Suggestions???

Thanks

500 Ranger. Ive got an 11 and its the real deal. Fits down all our existing trails that a fullsize would have width issues on.

I am going with the ranger 500efi, motor sports superstore in alabama has them for around 8600, and I don't believe they'll charge sales tax if your from out of state

Definetly the 500 ranger. Gret ride and not too big and plenty of power.

Your right they wont......but if the State of Mississippi goes over there and Audits their books they will come looking for you to pay the sales tax in Mississippi.

There was a Honda dealer doing the same thing in LA and alot of people got a phone call from the state tax commission on it

The same thing happened at the Union City dealer in TN.

I can honestly say that I walked into the courthouse with my paperwork when I bought one a few years ago in Hamilton. I handed them the paperwork and the lady told me it wasn't a street legal vehicle and therefore I didn't have to get a title and/or pay the taxes on it. I bought it in my business name and therefore filed a UCC with the state. I've been audited on Use Tax and others in the last two years and they found nothing wrong with it.

You will have to pay the MS sales tax on it if you are going to title it in Mississippi.

I looked into this before..... not exactly why you would need a title?

Look at the Bobcat UTV It has the polaris 500cc engine, hydrualic tilt bed, geared lower, has more towing and hauling capacity then the ranger and better ride!

a change in law has been discussed that would require a registration sticker on atv's and you have to have it titled to be able to register it. something about being able to find stolen atv's easier/quicker.

I haven't driven the bobcat.... but I own a rhino..... and have driven the kubota, mule, big red, and ranger. Without a doubt, the ranger 800 is far and beyond the nicest side-by-side I have driven. I drove one in a buddys neighborhood and as we pulled up to the stopsign, I reched for the turn signal.... because I thought I was driving a car...... it feels so natural. It is very quiet in my opinion as well. Also, they have been making side-by-sides pretty much longer than everyone else.....

IMHO, regardless of what you end up getting.... you must at least give the ranger a look.
