Just to close the topic, I did drive over to the man's house today to apologize and let him know that we would really try to be careful not to shower pellets on his trailer in the future. He was pleased to get the apology and hopefully we will have a better relationship in the future. He had only been living there a few weeks, so he was new to the area, and to us. On a shocking note, it was 5:30 in the evening and he came to the door in nothing but a bathrobe, and I am almost for sure that his toenails were painted bright pink. But I guess it does go to show you that a little courtesy can go a long way.

For future reference, if a man opens the door in a bathrobe - maintain eye contact. Checking out his toes isn't a good sign....

Didn't you mention earlier that a "registered sex offender" lived there prior? Maybe there is a pattern
with the tenants living there?

2 years ago my dad and I were out bushogging the field and a man pulled into the field in his truck and told us to look over in the corner of our field and there was a man over there in a guille(sp) suit that was doing some p.i. work. He said that the guy living there was a sex offender and he had a girl move in with him that had a child and they were trying to photo the child because he couldn't have a child at his residence or something like that. I think the new guy's wife is the sex offender's uncle, so maybe there is a connection.

No matter what the actual law is.....you should call the ACTUAL sherrif and file a complaint about the way you were treated and the attitude of the deputy that you spoke with. His actions while conducting himself as a civil servant is a direct reflection on the sheriff and he needs to know how his department is reflecting on him. I have the utmost respect for law enforcement personnel and the job they do. But I have a serious issue with those who use the badge as a way to bully the general public. "because I said so" is not a law! Pisses me off to no end how the "cops" (tv show) era of law enforcement officers treat people.

Sorry, off my soap box now :D

I hunted a field in an Industriak in Richland, ms a few yrs ago. Around the edges of the field were distribution sites for freight companies. They invited someone from each company. You could actually see the skyline of downtown Jackson. A LEO was writing a traffic ticket on old 49 and came over and politely requested we not shoot towards the highway as he got rained on while writing said ticket. Sharp contrast to what happened to you. I too would bring your experience up to the Sherrif.
I ain't hunting, it's a tailgate party with shotguns.

This is a very informative thread. I have learned that:

Deputies can get irate when having to deal with rednecks on behalf of toe-nail-polish-wearing, male personnel in bathrobes.

sadie1 hunts in a very strange area of the state.

and I will never, never, never hunt with Dux Be Us.
