Freeze the motivator
Freeze has a tough road ahead at Ole Miss rebuilding the program, but things like this make me feel good about the hire:

No family is as special as the Aubrun Family.

Saw Terrell at Chicken on a Stick off the square one night. Literally a monster. I've seen taller people but his mass is just un-freaking-real.

Re: Freeze the motivator
During his tenure at Ole Miss, Coach Freeze may not get everything right, but this is one area where he is dead on target IMO.
Terrell Brown is a walk on who has put his heart and soul into trying to become a better football player at Ole Miss. Ironically, his height and weight have been an obstacle to that process --- he is simply too big to get adequate pad leverage to play full time on either side of the ball in the trenches. However, there is a role for him on special teams as a hole plugger and field goal blocker. And he apparently is tickled to death to get this opportunity. He will be on the first team field goal/extra point units at tackle, and on the first team defensive unit when the opposing team is attempting a field goal try. Would love to see him block a field goal or two this season. Awarding him a scholarship his last semester at Ole Miss is a great reward for this young man who happens to be a giant.
Coach Freeze also awarded scholarships to some other deserving walk-ons who had done what they needed to do to earn it. Big T. Brown got most of the media attention re his award due to the fact that he is a senior and has been with the program a couple of seasons.
I realize that since we were well short of the 85 normal scholarship limit, this situation allowed Freeze to have several available to award this fall. He will need some of those scholarships after the fall semester to award to jucos signed during the early signing period later in the fall. And I understand that such scholarships may not always be available. But, I hope he will always reserve at least 2-3 scholarships for some deserving walk-ons. I am sick and tired of some of these signed "Scholarship" players with bad attitudes and serious disciplinary problems, squandering their great opportunity like it was some sort of entitlement.
I also like the fact that Freeze plays some of the starters, especially the younger guys, on the scout team. He does this to allow them to pay their dues, and to emphasize that no player is any more important than another.
We are always (me included) quick to pull the trigger in leveling criticism toward these coaches. So, I thought I would offer some kudos for some things one of them is getting right.
I may have a different opinion of Coach Freeze with respect to his coaching strategy/abilities after this weekend.
But, right now, he is enjoying a "honeymoon", however brief it may be.

Re: Freeze the motivator
Well said pomonk. People wonder why these guys act the way they do and have problems and get in trouble. It is because most of them have been given everything to them or given free passes because they were great football players. Therefor they think they are someone special and have this diva attitude. Good to see a young man that has worked hard just to be a part of the team and obviously must love the game get a scholarship out of it even if it is one semester.
Re: Freeze the motivator
that may be an issue for some of them but I can't agree with MOST of them...for most of them they come from a segment of society that they never been taught to be any better or different and the athletic ones are no different...they have no father's and the role models they do have would act the exact same way...they aren't given everything b/c of football...their 400 lb alcoholic unemployed worthless family members are given everything too and pay for nothingmshunter77 wrote:It is because most of them have been given everything to them or given free passes because they were great football players. SOME of them are personality flawed, some of them are bad eggs, some are really good kids from really good families that never had anything or inversely never wanted for anything....but most of them come from a part of society where they aren't raised to know any better and expect to be given everything regardless; in our world that part of society and human culture parallels with athletic ability...

Re: Freeze the motivator
I dont care whose team you play for or what colors you wear, I am always glad to see those who never thought they could, finally do. Not a SINGLE PERSON graduated from college in his family and he will be the first. Great job young man. I hope this pays off for you in the long run.
