95% of my dove hunting is done with a 20 ga. stackbarrel with 7.5's and nothing tighter than a light mod. and IC choke, typically skt. and IC. The other 5% is done with a 12 ga. with 1oz. 7.5's. You don't need a lot of shot to kill these little jokers, but too much will tear 'em up.

I chose other because of hunting conditions I prefer HB 6's through single shot 16ga with full choke barrel for longer reach shots but for the close in your face hunting I'll take a 12ga with any thing from LB 6's to 8's. I say this though after about a box of HB 6's through 16ga the ole shoulder kinda knows it.

I'll tell you boys what, I hit several doves with #8 shot last year that just dropped a feather or 2 and kept on flying. And yes they were in range so don't even. Switch to 7 1/2 and did much better. The second weekend our group had to discard probably half a dozen bird that had gangrene. Whether they were shot too far, the shells sucked, or were shot with 8s or 9s, I don't know. I'm sticking to 7 1/2s or 6s.
However, I would like to see Remington put out some high brass #10 Hevi-Shot!
