bo has always come across that way (we ran in the same "couples" crowd before he and wendy moved back to jxsn)....or maybe he's just gotten worse with notoriety...

Might have gotten worse, not sure.
He's definitely all about some "bo" & acts as if the majority of his listeners swing by Shapley’s after work every day to enjoy a tender & juicy filet with nice bottle of Cakebread's 2006 Dancing Bear cab before stopping off @ the smoke shop to puff on a $11 La Flor Dominicana before arriving home to their beautiful wives. Wish he'd do more sports talk than "lifestyle" talk.

I've stopped listening to him for this very reason...the "Ya'll Lifestyle" stuff is cheezy to me. It seems shallow, and quite frankly, is what is wrong with some of the areas north of Jackghanistan. Too much emphasis on stuff...not enough emphasis on what matters. I cannot imagine the magazine would even closely approximate what Land & Lodges for supposed to be when they had someone knowledgeable writing and influencing content. Bo's magazine will be about tailgating, Reunion, etc., if I had to guess. Nothing wrong with that per se, but not an outdoor magazine. I bet Bo wouldn't know how to load a gun, much less push articles about what gets us out of bed on cold mornings.

Now we're talking. I'm not a Bo fan either, but he has some really knowledgable guest on his morning show. As for materialism, sure some parts place more importance on it than others, but the rest of the Metro area isn't immune to the problem.

The Y'all magazine is much different than Land & Lodges. It's more of a "lifestyle" magazine that caters to the country club set – kind of like a Who's who type deal with lots of names and faces of movers and shakers from the area.

Just curious – is a magazine like this something you guys would support? I ask because I'm considering doing something similar. Unlike Cindy, I have the resources to make it happen without increasing my current overhead. Because I operate a newspaper I already employ writers, editors, designers, etc... I'm located in north Alabama, but the concept translates throughout the south.

Just curious on your thoughts. Is it something you would pay for? How much is a fair price for a 6x per year magazine?

ha....yeah when I was typing that I deleted "world" in favor of "Metro". I'll be blunt, NE Jackson and Rankin County aren't immune to it, people in different parts just spend on different things. Debt is debt and over buying is over buying, no matter if its for a big house and golf course membership meant to impress the neighbors wife or a truck and boat meant to impress your buddies.

I think the land and lodges concept would work. It probably would do even better if you spread it around more states.

Absolutely. I hate it when people say they will just start up an internet magazine. I'd rather sit down with a good PAPER magazine and sift through it than scroll through an internet mag any day. I want something that is well made - ie, not cheap paper, that also looks good sitting on my coffee table and I can browse through multiple times at my will without having to go get the damn ipad or computer. An internet mag seems cheap to me. Anyone can write an article and post it on the web, but it seems more substantial when you see something in print.

Don't know a whole lot about Bo Bounds but he does not come across as being a good ole country boy. May be wrong but I don't think you will see him skinning a buck or running a trot line. Can't do that wearing loafers and cuff links. His version of the y'all lifestyle may be a little different than ours.

I agree. I'd pay a premium subscription for a similar magazine with quality editorial, photography and layout.
