Been with them since 2003, merged wife's phone onto my account in 2007 and my bill is within $5 of what it was the month we merged with the same unlimited data plan. I can handle a $5 monthly increase over a 5 year period for all of the same services. Been to every southern state, plus AZ, NM, MI, WI, IL, OH, KS and VT with no more than what I would call typical roaming frustrations. Tethering unlimited for free was cheating the system and any of you that don't think it was would be the first one to cuss a ninja for doing it. So congratulations tetherers, you focked the rest of us that were paying for wireless internet at the house and caused CS to crack down on everyone. Rural folks had some valid reasons to do it, but urbanites that get countless "bundle" promotions daily from their cable/satelite provider were being cheap.
Now as far as the CSpire rebranding and going national, I hope it bites them in the booty that they would rather fight against mobile giants to win new customers in other parts of the country instead of to keep their regional base happy.

Same Here I pressed them hard about the whole grandfathering in thing. So far since buying new iphones and contract renewal in december nothing has changed for us.rjohnson wrote:Nope the wife and I both got new iPhones and our plans did not change. We just got our IPhones maybe two months ago and they grandfathered us in with no hassle even though we were signing a new contract. All I did was ask and they said yes anybody with th $80/40 plan was automatically grandfathered in and they gave 20% discount on any accesories purchased that day. I do hate that they are getting away from that plan now but I will probably have them as long as I live in Mississippi. I have had AT&T before And hated it sometimes my bill would be $200 that was just one line and I dropped calls like crazy. Right now I know that my bill is $140 a month no matter what and that is two lines.

Exactly, can't beat $140 for two unlimited lines. New folks...well pick your poison between all of them.mshunter77 wrote:Long Cut wrote:Same Here I pressed them hard about the whole grandfathering in thing. Hey dumbazz, it's a rant. It has no reason. Quit trying to "see the point" and see my point. Math is Breeze Street. And questions are only made for the non-initiative taking types anyway. Wanna see my cell bill? Wanna see my features? Chit fool, got that new textCS who needs streaming? And yeah 50/50 makes sense when it ain't CHO money. All I am saying is my padna can do all he needs to do and doesn't get charged extra when he goes over 50/50. I can see it now, folks flocking in from all 50 states plus Zimbabwe my the millions to save a dolla on CSpire's fantastic technology. Just don't count on grandfather givin' you part of the estate. They ain't evil, they're just idiots. Bout to be broke idiots. CSpire said you they b**ch anyway.rjohnson wrote:This is true. Someone who works in the corporate office confirmed this when they were doing away with truly unlimited plan. I don't see the point of your rant. If you already have the unlimited plan and are grandfathered in you are still truly unlimited and won't get charged extra. You must have signed a new contract with them or something. If so sucks to be you. I've been with them since 99 and see no issue with the pricing they are putting out. Even with unlimited everything plus the streaming fee of $20 it is still cheaper than T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T for the same unlimited voice, data, and streaming. $80 + $40 for my phone and wife's phone unlimited everything is the best deal in the country. If you are a new customer whatever you pay for the same is still the best deal in the country.DeltaCotton12 wrote:Guy told me once you are grandfathered in with the unlimited plan, you have it for as long as your a customer. If you ever change that plan, its gone. I have the unlimited plan as well and was asking the same questions.mshunter77 wrote:I am still with them because they let me keep my unlimited smartphone plan that I have had for a few years, $60 apiece for me and the wife can't beat that. Although I am sure they will not do that again next time around but that is two years away.
And the 50/50 thing makes sense. They have to pay higher fees for using other company's towers so how can they make money if they are paying more in fees than you pay them every month. If they didn't people from all over the US could come into MS and buy a plan that is cheaper than all of their competitors and make them lose money on every plan. So yeah they are evil for doing that.
I swear some people lack the ability to ask questions and perform simple math.
For those of you sucking the left one of CSpire, mark my word- unlimited is going to get gone. Count on it. This grandfather gotta adapt when grandfather gotta put salami on the table. And if you travel very much, watch the folks next to you with Verizon and some of the others do all they need to do with no hassle. Grandfather my ess. I'll pay the extra money to avoid the headache that these wannabes at CSpire are giving to those who need the CELLULARSOUTH features. I travel in the summer months with my job, doesn't "suck for me", sucks that CSpire is going to lose my business because they suck at winning. Or maybe I just shouldn't of pissed off grandpa after 10 years of loyalty. No wonder everyone in my company who travels dropped CSpire when their crap started.
Just cause some of ya will NEVER have to change plans (never, ever ever?), meaning grandfather won't stick it to your ess as long as you stay put for the financial statements, doesn't mean the rest of us have to take shaft. There are better options. With better service. If these fools wanna go national, they better bring something new to the table. Or keep what they used to have and see that other companies are doing what CSpire is wanting to stop doing. Grandfathered in? Is you toopid? Unlimited with CSpire is like Guantanamo with Obama: it was their first agenda and it failed miserably. But don't think for one minute when all you flag holders get complacent that they won't make the final stand. It'll be like gas prices, you'll pay it because you just got to. And it's their private business, at the end of the day we can't do nothin'. Shouldn't be able to either. Let em' get chewed up. Then it'll be the folks who left em's fault, not CSpire. Folks is movin' to greener pastures, CSpire is the DDT ditch.
Change the name, do whatever you want. As the old saying goes: you can paint a terd but... All I know is before the CSpire geniuses took over, none of this bullchit was happenin. And if you have a problem with me havin' a problem with my money expenditures then by all means, send yo' money to 5011 Louisville, MS. Just because grandpa ( think, the Judds) still has you on the will, doesn't mean he won't drop you like a bad habit as soon you give him the chance. Like ya'll tight or somethin'. All this "grandfathering" in chit is comical. Really? Sounds like a band-aid to me. Grandpa chit on me. Fluck grandpa, he was a liar anyways.
And for the chode odor who mentioned rural, I was rural when rural wasn't cool. News flash genius- Mississippi is pictured next to rural in the dictionary- look it up. Or cross reference it with grandpa.
Fluck ya and the CSpire horse ya rode in on.

Been with them since 96. Left two weeks ago due to the fact that they have sold their soul to the iphone. No new androids in 2yrs and none coming until they go 3g in September, from what I was told. Went to Verizion, could not be happier. Yes a little more expensive but you get a phone choice and you don't drop calls. Cspire called and said that I needed to switch because I was using too many minutes out of coverage area. Same with my brother. Yes unlimited is going to change soon regardless of grandfathering. The extra charge for streaming is just the beginning. Mark my word!! I am not bashing, I loved C South I was with them forever. We will see what the future brings.

Re: CSPIRE- WE KEPT THE C. WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT FROM US
Cutting all ties with the South was bad enough for me. When you have great name recognition in your and a good reputation, you don't just ditch all of that because the South might be negatively viewed by new customers you don't yet have. Not only did they take South out of their name, they went from sponsoring "Us against Y'all" to "Bright Lights Football" for high school rivalry games in the state.
They started going downhill before the name change. My wife had convinced me to get a smartphone when they had the Buy 1, get 1 free deal on the Hero (she really wants an iPhone, this was before they offered them). We didn't see the fine print said that 1 line had to be a new line. I love deals like that, put a restriction on your dedicated customers (my wife has had a cellular south phone for at least 14 years)....
When my wife called them to sign up, she switched over to their 2 person data plan (I guess what y'all are calling 80/40) and then was told she couldn't get the Heros on our lines unless we activated a new number. The guy refused to put us back on our old "grandfathered" plan even though we had just switched it 5 minutes ago. She started complaining (no cursing or yelling) and he hung up on her. When she tried to call back her phone was dead. No service. She used my phone to call back. She talked to another lady and explained what had happened. The lady asked her if she'd asked for her line to be disconnected. The guy had put a voluntary disconnect on her line. The lady reconnected her and switched us back over to our old plan (which was no longer offered).
I certainly would watch your bills. Seems there's a new fee every other month. They will find a way to get rid of the grandfathered plans eventually. My in-laws upgraded their phones and got to keep their old data plan, but some friends who got the same phones were not allowed to.
I think more than the name has changed. That's my impressions and experience. Their service, coverage, and rates were why they dominated in MS. Their service is worse, other providers are catching up on coverage and their rates are creeping up.

I had a toddy, yes. After 11 hours on the road and the realization that my one weekend a month home is going to be gobbled up by a wedding, the whiskey was a bit harsh going down. I had a fine breakfast, but I threw it up after I went to pay for my new space-aged material warm weather tux. Weddings are so magical.

I don't know what the deal is with CSpire - they put alot of fiber in the ground last year and were supposed to have 3x the budget this year to put more fiber in but have had issues with the 2012 budget being finalized/released for whatever reason.
