Ask DS: Pearl River Resort?
Ask DS: Pearl River Resort?
Wife and I are relatively new to the area and looking to do something this wkd. Thought about checking out Geyser Falls and one of the casinos. Which one should we go to? Is there anything else to do around there that we should check out?
Thanks.
Thanks.

If you're a golfer, Dancing Rabbit is one of the best in the state.

The silver star is the only casino there right now. Don't expect to get anything comped like at a real casino. Geyser falls is actually ok but like they said a lot of non swimmers. The rooms in the moon are a lot nicer than the star.

And, yes, Dancing Rabbit Azaela and Oaks golf courses are superb tracks. Very fun and if you play the tips, as challenging as any course I've ever played. I skip the casino altogether and just play golf if I have to go to Philly. Geyser Falls is fun for the kids...

Reminds me of when me and some buddies went and almost had a drunk indian convinced to let us cut off his pony tail with my pocket knife.SkippyJ wrote:It's like Vegas with drunk indians

Oh, it's worse than that. The service stinks, as does the rooms. (Even the non-smoking rooms smell of stale cigarettes.) You want to go to a casino? Go to Vicksburg, Natchez, Lula, Tunica, the Coast, even New Orleans! H3ll, anywhere is better than Pearl River.SkippyJ wrote:It's like Vegas with drunk indians

Geyser falls is fine as long as you go during the week. DO NOT GO ON THE WEEKEND
There will be a day....

You are assuming they are going to be at work?
Pearl River used to be a really nice place. Like any other institution that depends on government money it has eventually failed. The first couple of years Geyser Falls opened it was the water park to go to in MS. The federal government almost always stays out of indian affairs. So when the feds kick the door down to do an audit and take some folks to jail, you can bet they have good reason. I hope it gets back on track, but until Pearl River is run like a business with a mindset that they have to build capital to survive, I don't see it happening. No need to worry about your business succeeding when the government will just hand you more money. Same concept as college tuition. The only reason tuition keeps going up is because colleges know the government will keep loaning money to students. As long as the Choctaws keep getting propped up with my money, Pearl River will continue its swirling decent down the commode tube.
Last time I went to Geyser Falls- Me and my girlfriend were in the wave pool floating around in piss and filth. So I am hanging onto the side of the tube and my gf is on the tube. Well there goes the horn, get ready for a bonanza of waves and overweight bodies smashing into you!
So we're rocking along, I am intentionally kicking my feet as hard as possible, waiting...hoping. Absolute chaos is going on, you'd think it was a tsunami of water and black people, save the occasional white couple the size of elephant seals. Well a decent size wave hits and as I look to my right an overweight teenage cub's SOCK brushes the front of my teeth and lips. A nasty, drenched sock with an even nastier drenched foot contained within it. Who the hell wears a sock to a water park- in the water? Hell I don't want my drenched sock in my mouth! I dog cussed that SOB. For the record you can talk all the chit you can stand to as many blacks as you want when you're in a wave pool. They're just trying to survive in there.
After that episode, as I'm leaving the wave pool in total disgust and seriously considering to make a vow to never enter Geyser Falls again, I see the tipping point that sealed that vow:
With the taste of sock still fresh in my mouth, I see a whoa-man waddling into the pool blabbering some jibberish and pissed off at someone or some thing. Long story short, 4X white t-shirts and black nipples the size of pie plates topped with the spicy zest of ethno-crusted cotton socks sealed the deal. To her credit, mankind has yet to invent a material that can even come close to harnessing the size of that woman's knockers. As I was picking up our stuff to leave, a literal walking skeleton of a white woman was pulling on a Winston 100 and apparently clueless or careless with regards to the massive bush that her swimsuit was failing miserably to contain. I have been to water parks all over, it ain't just in MS, but Geyser falls is exceptionally disturbing to the human eye.
I know that rant sounds racist, but it is true. I graduated with a class of 180 students and 27 of us were white. The majority of my friends were black because the majority of my school was black. With that being said, if you aren't from the south, you will find out why we rank last in everything. These girls and a couple guys, who were from Massachusetts, came to town working for AmeriCorps. They had been all over the US that summer. Like almost all people not from the south their narrow minds came to our state with pre-conceived notions. By the time they left, they loved Mississippi. In fact, one of the guys now lives here and one of the girls was going to apply for Grad school at MSU. But they also left with disgust towards the minority community. And for the record, there are just as many trashy whites walking around that place too. It's a love/hate relationship with us Mississippians, and they left with the same love/hate mentality. I do love that state. It smells good, as long you ain't downwind from the chicken farms. Take it for what it is, and don't try to make it something it is not.
Why did I type that paragraph above? Their first introduction to the rich mix of culture we have in Mississippi came at Geyser Falls. It may be better now, that was 6 years ago.
But if you're asking me what I think- there ain't enough chlorine in this world.

I've never been in a casino that wasnt full of cheeseburgers.
Sounds like geyser falls is a no go.
Those two courses are top notch. If you play, it would be worth it just to drive over early bust it for 36 holes, stay the night, then head back home.

Great golf. Everything else sucks. Service is terrible. The dealers appear to all be on suicide watch. One guy in our golf group had bed bugs. Looke like rolled in an ant bed. Try did upgrade us a suite and it was nice despite smelling like tribal A-hole.
Water park is a weekday event, golf is great though.
Like Vegas.....with sweet tea and bed bugs.
