Question for you forestry guys

Postby mshunter77 » Wed Apr 25, 2012 3:39 pm

What is the going rate per acre right now to prep and plant a freshly cut tract. Would be planting in pines. I know there are a lot of different factors just looking for a rough ball park figure.

What type of site prep are you talking? Mechanical or chemical?

The seedlings and the labor to plant them will run you about $80-90/acre. Site prep cost will vary greatly depending on what you do. Herbicide applications, mechanical site prep, and burning will add to it. It will get expensive very quickly but you get out of it what you put into it. Crackhead can tell you more about costs associated with spraying. The forestry commission usually has a list of site prep contractors that will quote you a price.

To get it sprayed and hand planted will cost close to $200 per acre. This is what it cost around Hattiesburg.

Check your inbox. I sent you some specific dollar amounts. In general it will be about $200 an acre. But, that all depends on what needs to be performed.
