Getting out of this ocean of estrogen I live in helps. Five women running around this place and I'm the only guy. Sometimes I just run up the road to the local hunting store and sit around shooting the breeze. They know what I'm doing and just let me hang out a few minute until the latest "girl" crisis blows over here at home and then I amble back.
Also fishing, hunting, and shooting.

good way to unwind, outside, get exercise and finding cool rocks is a bonus.

Man, I know the feeling. I have three woman around and I'm the only male... all of our pets are also female. I am up to my ear in 'girl' crisis.

same here. I walked in absolute silence saturday for two hours and found nothing but some broken pottery. There are two mounds there in the field but just can't figure it out.tica-tica wrote:Seymore wrote:Getting out of this ocean of estrogen I live in helps. I feel you, bro. Anywhere from 3-5 females in my house at all times and I flirt with estrogen toxicity on a daily basis. Sometimes you have to get out before you grow an ovary....Seymore wrote:Getting out of this ocean of estrogen I live in helps. Five women running around this place and I'm the only guy. Love to go pick guitars and man'lins with folks, catch a fish, shoot something....

Not sure I know how to unwind anymore, even recreational activities seem busy. I work for USDA; farm in Tallahtchie County; assistant coach HS baseball; advisor for HS academic team; assist with youth group at Church; fundraiser for athletics; and like to hunt turkeys, deer, and ducks as well as train a coondog every now and then. I will fish when crappie are on and like to set a few trotlines a couple of times a year. Every minute of every day seems to be scheduled for something even if it is supposed to be recreational. Guess I can say a good meal at home with a glass of wine in front of the tv is about as relaxing an activity as I get these days. I have come to the age where I crave to just be home sometimes.
Are we gonna get wet?

Have you thought about throwing your appointment book out of the truck while driving on a bridge over a very deep body of water?SWAG wrote:Not sure I know how to unwind anymore, even recreational activities seem busy. I'm in the same boat. I have watched a total of 1.5 hours of tv in about 3 weeks. I come home and there is something to do all the time whether it be play with the kid, clean, work, mow the yard, clean up the boat, etc. No rest for the weary. I did get to make something in the shop this weekend which was quite relaxing. Wish I could find a way to clear up schedule.jacksbuddy wrote:Have you thought about throwing your appointment book out of the truck while driving on a bridge over a very deep body of water?SWAG wrote:Not sure I know how to unwind anymore, even recreational activities seem busy. Re: What do ya'll do to unwind...
Bowfishing or shooting my bowfishing bow..not big on target shooting with my hunting bows but I like shooting at toothpicks or small sticks off my porch with my bowfishing bows as "practice".
I also like shooting pistols if it's been a stressful day...the smell of gunpowder is therapeutic in its own way. The other afternoon I loaded up a few magazines for the G35 and went to the back of the yard and shot the stems of weeds and a couple water bottle caps.
I think the concentration involved in both being small targets helps me move the other stuff to the back of my mind for the time being.
Oh yea if it's been a real stressful day my AR with slidefire and tannerite seems to do the trick!

I have read arch documents on mound digs and many mounds don't have a bunch of artifacts. Maybe a few offeratory artifacts, some digging tools and that is it. Many are not burial mounds. They are just mounds they did rituals on the top of but did not live there although I'm sure they did live somewhere nearby.
