Holster for under the steering wheel

Postby farmerc83 » Thu Apr 05, 2012 8:52 am

Great idea compared to leaving a pistol in the center console. Anybody use one?

I'd hit that thing with my knee every time I got into/out of the truck.
It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

I have a Fobus floor mounted ROTO holster that is bolted to the hump in front of the console and the pistol points straight down. I barely have to lean forward to draw.

Thought that too until I held the holster under there and still had plenty of room in a '10 F150 for my 6'3 legs. Obviously it depends on the size of your truck, you and how far away from the wheel you like to sit.

This is a regular holster I modified to mount under my steering wheel. It has been there for over a year and works great.

Looks great lilham, just don't want to drill holes in the truck if it's not necessary. Any other mounts that would achieve the same thing yall know of?

My luck would have the darn thing going off while I'm stepping out of my truck. In such an event as that, I'd be fortunate if all I did was shoot a hole in the floorboard.

I like that! I'd have to use a left-handed one for it to face the other way, though.

Is this a paddle holster that you have drilled through the paddle to mount?

See that gap between the bottom fascia and the steering column? I've had a paddle holster stuck in there every day for several years. Draws when you need it, and the holster comes out if you want to carry it somewhere. Simple, safe and inconspicuous. Had everything from a .22 to a .45 there.
