Looks like it will be a green team next year.
If it doesn't work out there will never be any doubt that the pleasure was worth all the pain.

Here I am. Not a hater. Think he's a fine fellow. Great recruiter. Poor Coach. Poor disciplinarian. Right move. Wish him the best.

The only one that should have retired today is Sydney!

Sad, sad day. After talking to a good friend, we realized the ONLY basketball teams we've ever cared about were coached by Coach Stansbury. He had slipped at bit recently -- it was time for a change, but had it not been for his earlier success, the last two seasons' records would've been business as usual. Stansbury is the ONLY reason the next MSU hoops coach has even a glimmer of hope/tradition to build on.

The man I saw in the presser today was no clown. We should all be so fortunate to have what he does (and I'm not talking about money).

Poor tactician, maybe. Coaches recruit. You folks still taking shots today are some dismal souls.

Hell coaches get fired every year. I don't feel sorry for the guy, he's set for life. Change is good.

What would it say for those of us who have said we need a change in head coach to turn around and say it's a sad day for Our State's University?

I was never critical of his integrity or character. eSJay called me out, so here I am stating exactly what I've thought before and after the removal of our Head BB Coach.

Bottom line, my post you quoted was no "shot" at Rick Stansbury. It was my opinion of him at his profession, no more and no less. I'd say the same thing to his face if he asked my opinion. Again, I wish him the best in his future endeavors. He's had a positive impact overall on MSU Basketball.

You must not have been a fan in 1996. I realize Rick was a coach of that team, but he wasn't the Coach if you get my drift. I was at the Meadowlands. Awesome experience.

He's retiring to spend more time with his kids ..... with his kids.

And while I hate it for him personally, as a Rebel I am glad he is gone. His teams have had our number in basketball like no other. The best the Rebels have ever done against Stansbury coached teams are a season split ---- never a sweep. And there were many seasons where the Stans coached Dogs swept the Rebs in basketball. Enjoy your retirement Stans ---glad to see ya go.

BTW: also very glad to see Dee Bost finally graduate. He has been a thorn in the Reb's side the last four seasons, which have seemed like an eternity ---seemed as if he played for MSU for 8 years.
