Will do bud. Deciding to is the first step, and it's hard to do and mean it. It never goes away, but it only gets easier over the long haul.

I quit over 8 weeks ago after 16 years of dipping. After 8 weeks I still want it everyday. It does get better! Stay strong and hang in there!

Dipped for 15 years quit cold turkey 4 years ago. I used the little coffee stirring straws to chew on. Seemed to me like one of the biggest problems beside the nicotine addiction was the need to put something in your mouth. That's where I used the straws or even gum. Its amazing that just having something between your lip and gums where the dip would have been was a huge mental help.
Good Luck. I think if I took a dip today I would probably fall over from the buzz and puke.

Dipped for 15 years, decided to put it down 11 weeks ago. I still want it everyday but it has gotten much easier. Hang in there.

I dipped at least a can a day for 15 years, it had started drying my throat out so bad it made me gag. One day at work, I put one in, I gagged, had a half a can left, through it and the dip in my mouth in the garbage and have'nt had on since. It's been 12 years since I had a dip, but anytime I am around somebody that opens a can of any wintergreen snuff (I dipped Skoal), my mouth starts watering.

"i could put a whole can in..top and bottom, if needed...and even if i puked from the buzz, i'd be happy as a lark!"

i should've bought stock in stride gum when I quit....hindsight yadda, yadda.

Didn't you say you were quitting last year? Its tough, I quit for 8 months one time then I decided what could one dip hurt and was right back on it. I guess I've been dipping 8 or 9 years now and really need to drop it myself.

Quit back in the early 90's after having a 2 can/day Cope habit. It's tough but the benefits of quitting far outweigh the risks of not.

Yes I tried last year and failed. I'm done with it now. I also noticed that I tipped the scale at 255 the other day. Many of the ones who know me knew what type of person I was in high school and college. I was very active and played baseball and football all through school and college, now I would pass out if I tried to run a football field. Its pathetic. I'm getting my health back, my heart is Staying right with GOD and I'm giving up anything that hinders my health, my GOD or my family. It sucks to say the least, but I feel so much better already in two days time. I think mentally I quit months ago, but the body wouldn't let me. Well I'm in control now.

The inside of jaw/lip is leather. I hate it but I can't hardly work without a dip in my mouth.

Sunflower seeds seem to help. The nights in the chair are the hardest, so I went and watched tv in the bed with the wife and got me a spit bottle and some seeds.
