Got done early

Postby GulfCoast » Sat Dec 15, 2001 8:14 am

Got done early this morning. 3 teal, 3 mottled ducks. Saw a few more ducks down here than normal for this time of year. Problem is, they don't STAY here, 2 days and then SEE YA! Off to LA and TX. I sure as heck wish the water would drain down on my stuff in the delta. I am tired of swatting mosquitos like some Viet Nam movie while duck hunting in mid-december. Caught a few big specks on the way back out, too!

GC - at least you've got meat.
I've been three times this year and have not killed a single bird. It seems like I'm bitten with bad luck instead of mosquitos. It's either been hot with no ducks or so foggy I can't see until 10:00 a.m. The ducks just haven't arrived where I hunt. I spoke to Danny Hartley (with the Corps of Engineers) the last time I was there (1 week ago) and he said the ducks haven't made in down yet. We really don't have much of a resident population so the migratory birds are about all we see here.

Where I hunt is the river at it's getting out of the banks up here so I decided to not risk it today. Instead, I decided to put the new Mud Buddy Blind on my boat that I was telling you about. It works great and looks good. The material, I believe, is 1000 denier cordura so its nice and heavy stuff.

Take care

I was down your way this morning GC. My wife and I picked up my new 4-Runner at Bert A. Toyota on pass road. 4WD, all the extras, man it looks too good to put down a muddy delta road. But...as soon as I get my boat hooked to it, it WILL be....
