new mississippi decoy

Postby Gant » Sun Feb 19, 2012 8:02 am

Did anybody see these new decoys in the Clarion ledger this am. They look pretty good, and they do address the issue of having to lug around one of the full body decoys. What is your opinion of these decoys? I do like supporting a MS company, and I hope they make it. Their website is Mississippidecoys.com.

I am familiar with the family that has created this company. The best turkey hunters around that part of the country---------years of experience. I have no doubt that this decoy works and works well. Great concept!!! Cannot wait to try them out!!

Im not paying 45 bucks for an umbrella. What you gonna do when he circles around and gets behind the decoy?

That is a cool design. I thought of the same thing a few years ago for stalking field turkeys. If you hunt field turkeys these things would be awesome if you wanted to ease over a rise in a field to take a look or move from one location to the next.

im talking about when he walks the ridge or wood line behind you. I do see how it would be useful for sneaking though.

Don't know how it would work better than a regular decoy. It certainly wouldn't be any less bulky than a normal silhouette decoy. A silhouette has 2 sides where this only has one. Seems silly to me. It would only work if the bird came straight at you, and not from the side or behind.

Now if they made it with 2 way screen material where you could hide behind it and look through it, then maybe.

Except DSD...you can't buy a more realistic decoy than the Dave Smith.
