Re: Red Dot worth it?
Sorry, I jumped off sides on this thread. I had posted on another one asking if anybody had any experience with the Tru Glo Gobbler stopper. My bad.

Real turkey hunters only use a modified choke, a barrel with no rib or beads, wear a plaid shirt, and use a leaf of grass as a call

Re: Red Dot worth it?
I have been fortunate enough to hunt in alot of different states and meet alot of different hunters. I'd venture to say that 3 of the 5 best turkey killers i know use scopes. The reason is because these folks don't just shoot factory shells. It's more serious to them than that. Like me, they load their own, and they are FAR superior to anything you can legally buy. You have to be able, and responsible enough to sight in your point of impact.aweyerman wrote:Ask anyone who consistently kills his limit of birds every year and I bet you not a single one of them has a scope on their gun.bottomland84 wrote:I don't know about topwater....
I personally don't use one,but some of the best turkey hunters I know use them. It's not for everyone that's for sure.

Nah, the gun is too much extra weight. We use a sling shot.....LawDawg wrote:Real turkey hunters only use a modified choke, a barrel with no rib or beads, wear a plaid shirt, and use a leaf of grass as a call

But hey on a lighter note we find something else you and I can disagree on. That is your sole purpose on this board right?

Re: Red Dot worth it?
I have killed 50+ with an 870 with a red dot..... Never missed one with the setup either. Don't know why I quit hunting with it. Guess I was tired of being a top water
Oh well
If my Benelli was tapped I would have something on it
Just ordered a scope for my new to me 870.
So yeah I would get one. I had an aimpoint

I like a soft head under each boot
Re: Red Dot worth it?
Since I am not much of a turkey hunter I can only address my experience with a red dot scope/optics. I personally like using it versus an ACOG or EOTECH. I am able to keep both eyes open and the dot looks like it is on the target. If it helps you shoot better, I say got for it. They make some that are pretty reasonable price wise.
Just my 2 cents..

Re: Red Dot worth it?
It's a MO Obsession Mossberg Bantam, with a 22"barrel . I bought the youth model for my 7 yr old son to use, but after shooting it last year, i'm hunting with it when he isn't with me! Plus, i love to see peoples face when i pull out the little gun. Rolled one at 55 last year with it after he busted me and took off, and had several yards to spare. His head was full of pellets.
