Well the further west you stay your choices open, basically from Gulfport to the la line you can wade all the beaches just use structure (old pier pillings or new piers) to pinpoint with movement on tides if tides go slack go home. Shrimp under popping cork, top dawns, mirro lures and cocahoes are very solid starting lures, just remember to wash everything off after each trip, saltwater acts quick. Or you could travel into la, and just get a guide I don't know any but I'm sure you could do a search on here and find some names, hopedale and Delacroix are good places to look

check out shore thing charters
Life is to short to only fish on weekends
Re: Places to fish on the coast????
I know you asked about redfish, but this time of year, its easy fishing for whiting and pompano along beaches from Ft. Morgan the Pensacola. No boat required and good pulls on light tackle. Both fish offer excellent eating. No crowds and all restaruants wanting customers.

Thanks guys, what about places to stay besides hotels and such? Maybe a beach condo....

Check out Team Brodie Charters- www.teambrodiecharters.com
Captain Brodie is a really fun down to earth fellow. He does inshore shore fishing for the specks and redfish and knows where to find em. Ive been out with him a couple of times and would recommend checking out his website and considering his services. He does half and all day trips at a very very reasonable rate. Brodie is an award winning photographer and has written articles for several magazines.
