Dollar Cotton by John Faulkner (William's Brother). Great fictional read that probably played out in real life settling of the Delta 100 times over. Fantastic read for what you are talking about. I read it over the Christmas holiday weekend in 2010.

Check out Crow Killer, its the book from which Jerimiah Johnson the movie was based off. Its awesome. It reads about as fast as Dollar Cotton. I read them both in a day. Life by Keith Richards is also good

I've been reading some of Stephen King's stuff lately. The Stand and 11/something/63. Great books, can't believe I only now started reading him. Wish I'd read Green Mile series before seeing the movie.

Lone Survivor, and "not a good day to die" both are excellent books. I read roughneck 91 last year and just finished american sniper a couple days ago. Good selection

Hemingway's short stories are incredible.

Aldo Leopold's, A Sand County Almanac is an old favorite.

And I just read Jon Krakauer's Into Thin Air. It picked up speed and I couldn't put it down. I read the last half in one sitting. He also wrote Into the Wild. It's a good read, too.

Just ordered dollar cotton last week. Took forever to find a copy reasonably priced I also liked the Lewis and Clark book, it's one of my favorites. Just finished the book about Quanah Parker and the Tx frontier. Think it's called "Rising Moon" I think is the name . Good read on Indian and frontier history. If you like Wall Street and stocks try the "Wolf of Wall Street". It's can get raunchy at times. If you like to run, "Born to Run" about a tribe of ancient runners from Mexico is good.
Like Rick Bragg books also. Last one, a book about Benjamin Franklin. He did a ton of stuff in his lifetime.

New Deal or Raw Deal: How FDRs Economic Legacy has Damaged America?

Really good read if you are into looking at how in the Hell the United States got in the economic mess it's in today.
Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote. Benjamin Franklin.

A look at life from a deer stand- Gary Chapman.

Trust me... Awesome read and will give you a gut check on life as an outdoorsman and a father.

That's Empire of the Summer Moon. Best book I have read in a while.
