Staggered finish nails. The nails go through the nostrils to hang the duck. The nails on each row of this board are 4" apart and they're too close. I'm going to try spacing them about 6" apart.eSJay wrote:David - been thinking about building one for my camp using reclaimed cypress from the barn on the property & meant to post this a week or so ago.
I've seen pics of several different ones from afar, but not clear on the details. Is that just finish nails in a staggered pattern and you just stab the side of the head into the nail or what? Yours is the first one I've seen that orient the ducks this way. Most of them look like they just stick them under the bill or something. I've even seen them where it appears that they drilled holes to stick the duck bills into. Just looking for different ideas. Would like to see some others as well.
Sorry for he hijack Wil & Ted.

Re: About Time
I got the idea from Ty. Here's the plans from mine. Mine is wider than David's so although isn't near as bad, mallards can get kind of tight on the board. If you only put 24 nails on the board however, you could space them out to 7 2/8 (3 5/8 btw nails on different rows). Also put a pic with board full of big ducks so you know what spacing looks like.

Ted,
Glad someone I know finally is killing some ducks.
We are still waiting.

just a little different design. its not permanetly affixed anywhere, we just stick nail in there head. can lean it up again truck, house, rhino, etc... this one is really old (been around since before i was apart of the camp). wasn't my design but it makes for some cool pics

for exmaple you could kill a 4 greenheads (two banded), a mallard/black cross, and a mallard/gaddy cross and smash a hot blonde on the way back to the ramp and call it a hell of a day

Just messing with ya bud. I know you meant 2 7/8 like the drawing reads.

Sorry about that Stacy, I meant 7 4/16
Re: About Time
Damn Auburn guys trying to act smarter than us Mississippi boys.
I knew what ya meant. I read it as 3 5/8 on different rows which would come out to be 7 1/4 spacing on each row. Is that right?

Nahh, It's really clean to be the end of the season, I thought. Btw I appreciate you letting us use it for the night. We cleaned up the best we could. Look forward to stacking em up the last couple days of the season. - WilBradBynum wrote:It's the trailer man!!
