It has been the slowest in years for big birds! We have killed some spoonies and bluebills!

By far the worst I've ever seen it........ You can always go after Chritmas and shoot a limit of woodie's out of a mud hole somewhere this yr you can go to the best of your honey holes and not fire a shot. Or even see a duck for that matter. Now our trip in Tx this yr that made my 5th trip there and I've never seen the birds like it was this yr (Red heads and Pintails)

Below as far as # of ducks around...but harvest #s may get us up to an average year if this final few days and youth season hold true to what we have done this past week.
Are we gonna get wet?

inundated with water turkeys in what i thought would be one of my more "big duck productive" permissions (cypress pond along one of the minor rivers). although lackluster as it has been, the season isn't a skunk!

I personally believe the 3 duck limit on woodies will be changed before long. From east to west the woody numbers are wtf.

Overall this season has been well well below average but Saturday was one of the best hunts I've been on since about 2006 as far as how many ducks that were seen and actually wanted to come in. Saw more work at one time than we've seen all year combined probably.

bird numbers down, harvest numbers up... double edged sword i guess... none the less it's been a fun season

for exmaple you could kill a 4 greenheads (two banded), a mallard/black cross, and a mallard/gaddy cross and smash a hot blonde on the way back to the ramp and call it a hell of a day
and THAT is a duck hunt.

Worst season since I started duck hunting. Still, I got to catch up with some old pals and make some new friends. Next year will have to be better...

+1 Pintails decoying better than mallards...really enjoyed watching 8-10 Pintails landing in our spreads , don't see that very often.

My season has been a roller coaster ride. I have been on two hunts I would put in my top ten. I have also seen many mornings this year that I would have been better off staying in bed. All and all I still just enjoy going, lot of people dont get to enjoy the outdoors. Everytime I have a slow hunt and my partners start complaining, I just think of being unable due to disabiliry or sickness, to hunt and it sheds new light on the situation.
Damn, i thought I had that one

Is that buddy of yours tryin to blow that call or make love to it?

Below average, partly because we lost water in our field. The fewest mallards I can ever remember. Thank goodness for teal and gadwalls. Hope for a good rain before the last weekend.

Strange year. Can't complain about # of birds on our place, but not seeing anywhere near the #s of birds anywhere else. As to the weather, I've only had 3 hunts where it actually FELT like duck season and haven't broken ice once.
