Sitka Waterfowl Gear

Postby Deltaquack » Thu Jan 19, 2012 9:57 am

Looks like they are going to do it up right. Any of y'all on Facebook look up Sitka Gear on there and you can see all the stuff they are releasing at the SHOT show this week. I met the guy that did this film through an elk hunt I went on in New Mexico. They were taking pictures of all the Sitka gear while there elk hunting in the same camp with us. He's been sending me all the info and thought i'd pass it along. I bet it won't be cheap, but you know how well Sitka gear can last.

Most over priced crap ive ever seen or heard of. Friend of mine who guides in Montana had an entire suit and the stitches came loose and the quality wasn't there.

You've obviously never seen or been around any. It's more expensive b/c it's definitely more durable. We've had talks on here about it before and how much more durable it is. I know a couple of professional hunters that wear it day in and day out and swear by it and don't get paid a dime from them.

I don't really care about the clothing, but that was a cool video.

but I have been waiting for the expected post about the face paint and good looking d-bag guys wearing clothes that don't fit like the grandpaw's hand-me-downs and how commercialized and not real duck hunting that is and it's ruining the sport and traditions and...blah blah blah blah

Who in their right mind would pay $600 for a hunting coat? I don't care if you are clearing $3m per year, that is simply ridiculous IMO.

Video was cool. Not sure if I'm sold on the camo or not though. I'm still trying to figure out what those greenheaded winged creatures are that they're knocking down out of the sky. They must not come around the south very much. :?

I said +1 to this quote "I don't really care about the clothing, but that was a cool video." So I agree, Sitka is too much...I do buy Drake stuff though and it is pricey, but in my opinion it's worth it.

Do what? Keep your attraction to dudes to yourself. Gross.

On a note other than Cam's affection for affliction, buddy of mine has a full suit of the stuff and thinks it's the tits. I am not impressed by it.

There is no doubt this stuff looks pretty sweet...moreover, and most importantly, it is marketed well.

http://www.sitkagear.com/

However, take a look at the prices. You could buy two Patagonia high end coats that will keep you warm on the top of Everest for what you pay for a hunting coat from these people.

Slick marketing and cool looking products don't mean they are worth the price.

Individual things you could buy for $600...a nice glock handgun, a decent bow, a kayak, a very nice fly rod, six bottles of ultra high end scotch, an ipad, a tricked out PC, two Filson waterfowl coats, three pairs of neoprene waders, etc...

I agree we don't need the stuff down here to make it and hunt for anything. The difference is when you are out west and up in canada, alaska, etc. There's a huge difference then between gear. It almost comes down to what will keep you alive. Those guys are hunting Dall sheep, caribou, etc. and won't wear anything else. Just like backpacks........we don't really care.....Redhead even works fine. They swear by a company called Mystery Ranch.

Here's another cool video he did...
