I would give the transmitter back so they can do a "do over". They should band it in Feb. THEN figure out where they will go. Nice trophy just the same!

I know you are omnipotent but last year they were doing a study during duck season to see how hunting pressure affects the birds' movements.

Guess find out what days they are releasing them and dont shot any from that direction that day! Or like other said carry the colar all around with you and see what type info they could give you on its travels
May the wind always be at your back and the sun upon your face, and may the wings of destiny carry you aloft to dance with the stars.

And I'm pretty sure that's not a satellite duck. Radio transmitter but not gps.

I am just relaying the information here but I talked to the guy that was with him and the guy that killed it and here is what the Biologist told them. The duck was actually trapped in Minnesota because the band has “Minnesota on it”. The duck was transported here for release, the biologist released the ducks and this one was killed within the hour of release, about ½ mile from where he released them. He told them it was to track the ducks movements while here and on the flight back. The biologist that they dealt with was not the one you see in the MSU truck with the antenna. This guy was in a vehicle with Minnesota plates and was actually leaving to go back when they called him. If y’all need more information the transmitter had a phone number on the back of it I can get it and PM it to you and y’all can talk to him personally.

Minnesota biologists seem to do quite a few telemetry studies of waterfowl. I was lucky enough to harvest a ringneck last year that was part of such a study. I spoke with the biologist that was conducting the study last year and she said she used the radio transmitter to track the pre-post breeding activity of ringnecks in Minnesota. I am sure many on this site are familiar with James Callicut one of our waterfowl biologists in the state. He was familiar with the ringneck study last year and I am sure could offer some info about this study as well.

I don't care if I shot it coming out of the cage...I would have been from Russia by the time this forum heard about it
