Satellite Duck Killed 01/16/2012

Postby PWS » Tue Jan 17, 2012 8:59 am

Yesterday a buddy of mine killed one of the famed and coveted satellite duck’s . It was his second band of the week, how damn lucky can you be. I am pretty sure he is not a member of this forum so I thought I would share the great news for him. I have no idea how to post a picture on this sight so if someone would PM me with an e-mail address who knows how to post a pic I will send it to you so you can post it.

Yes the MDWFP and the guys from MSU were notified and Yes they let him keep the transceiver.

I call the guy that was with him when he shot it. And he told me the story. The biologist released it and they killed it within the hour of the release. Lesson learned: Don’t release ducks in MS during daylight hours in duck season.

Guess they might need to rethink how and when they band the birds!

Congrats to the hunter!

Congrats to the hunter on the kill! Not such a smart move by the biologist IMO...

what would be just as interesting is, what was the distance between the hunter and the biologist. and how far the duck made it that day before being harvested.
