Boat sunk at Greentree this morning.....

I was the guy who was involved in the accident. First i would like to thank the fine young men who saved my life and my buddy. There was no racing involved. The accident occurred due to a faulty throttle cable. The cable pinched in half resulting in the throttle being stuck wide open. So the first thing I did was try to turn the motor off. That did not work. So by this time I am try to pull the kill switch which was attached to me. As this is going on the spotlight goes out. I am trying to pull the kill switch and steer. Because of my speed in the tight spot I was not able to turn in time to miss a cypress tree. The boat hit the tree and flipped over. I was thrown out of boat and my buddy and dog were trapped under boat. My buddy was able to swim out and grab a tree. I keep my waders half on so was able rip them off. Once I realized my buddy was ok we screamed for help and God sent us his guardian angles. My dog was still under boat and wasn't leaving her. I was able to swim under and pull her out. A lot of you will think it's just a dog but she is my life. The guys who came to our rescue pulled out and took us to land. We were lucky water was 10ft plus. God was with us. The throttle cable never showed any type of trouble and was even working right before this. I had been slowing up and down riding in. Alot of you may say well I could of done this or that. But let me tell you it happened in a split second and we were swimming. Hope this story opens some eyes and realize how important being safe is. We were Not wearing life jackets. It was a miracle we were not knocked out. Once again thank you heroes. I am writting this because of your quick actions.

The good Lord was really looking after you guys today.I don't know you personally,but I'm glad you all and your dog are ok.Good job to the guys that helped their fellow man.

Glad everyone is OK!..But a little help...clarification...I have seen shows showing Neoprene waders help you Float....I have been under the impression that it is best to have them on(in a boat)....but the comments earlier made me wonder....I still say you will float better, stay warmer (just like wet suit(almost- as not as tight)) probably swim slower ..Life jacket is a no-brainer....

waders will float if you have a wader belt and its tight; only problem is, when your feet leave the ground then they are headed to the surface while your head is left under the water. then you drown with your feet sticking out of the water. if your in a boat its best to leave your waders off

still say wear neoprene waders in a boat with a life jacket. wader belt is optional...no swim races,and have a 4 wheel drive at the bank to pull you out(ha)....old style canvas/rubber waders may be different(who uses them?)....not trying to argue,but this could save a life....keeping you warmer...(just like a wet suit) is another issue...and again glad all came out OK...and apologies for the hijack,...but this is something we all need to know

supports this to a degree...but doesn't seem to be a problem....life jacket should keep your head up

Glad you all are ok.. A great reminder to never take any safety precautions for granite.
