Another attack here recently. Man petting his mothers pit bull (older white lady mind you) and the dog lurched into his face and mouth!!! The young man has a 3 year old. Coulda been the kid. The mom doesnt want to put the dog down.

I believed in Pit Bulls as sweet dogs, but they can still just SNAP.
Sound familiar?

If these are truly friends of your family they should step up and fulfill the financial obligations of your son's medical bills. If they fail in that regard, your son (assuming he's an adult) should probably pursue the matter through legal means. Probably wouldn't hurt to talk to a lawyer now.
I hate to see this kind of thing happen to anyone, but we ALL must be responsible for anything unprovoked that happens to guests in our home. Especially when it comes to animals. I wish your son a speedy recovery and hope that legal means can be avoided.
+ 1,000,000. With one added caveat - A necropsy should be performed on this dead dog to find out why it attacked. This will also provide your son with additional information regarding possible medical treatment needs.

I been bit 5 times by a dog 2 of witch where pits. I was 6 yrs old when the first one got me ended up with 19 stitches and one less dog down the street. Last yr I got bit by one at a friends lake house no one wanted to claim the dog and know one wanted to tell who's it was and he wanted a knee cap and screwed up in two different ways. He got me to close to my truck and I had a good friend of mine in the truck.

No agressive behavior should be allowed from any dog, there are way to many good natured ones out there. A dog gets one growl around my house, it is his first and his last. I love my kids to much to have any dog with any agressive behavior. I also will not tolerate a dog that is to skiddish, they are just scared and trying to build up the courage to bite. This dogs owners are cowards that should have put the dog down after the first incident. I shall step off soap box now.

The fact that this dog has a history of violence and he is still alive is complete negligence on the part of the owner. The owner is fully culpable for medical damages.

if the dog would have attacked a small child, the child would probably be dead right now. That is scary.
