shooting stray dogs? Law?

Postby Swamp Ass » Fri Dec 16, 2011 4:34 pm

[*]What does the law say about shooting stray dogs? No collars, not hunting dogs. They are harrasing my wood goats.

If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around, does it make a sound?

What dog?

Don't shoot the dog. He's just being a dog after all.

are the dogs near residential areas? Call the animal control officer in that area, most counties and cities have"leash laws" and the can find who ownes the dogs or will catch them and remove them.If its a bunch of dogs that someone has dumped out do what has to be done for the sake of your hunting area and to keep the dogs from starving and suffering.
Thanks

From my experience most counties do not have leash laws. Cities do.

They look a lot like coyotes where I turkey hunt. Just saying.

I have felt just like the OP a time or two myself. In the end though, I couldn't bring myself to shoot the dog for being a dog over some deer.

And in a twist of fate, one of those times, the dogs actually ran off several deer only to drive a 8-point out of the thicket 10min. later into the open where I dispatched him with a single round from a 257WBY. Karma is real.
