I know they are only worth about, well, a penny, but I've collected them for as long as I can remember for some reason. Today I found 11 of them in a roll, and with the exception of one from 1919, the rest are from 1956 and 1958 and seem to be uncirculated. I know that technically they were circulated for them to have come through the bank, but they are pristine. Must have gone from someone's collection, to the bank, to my pocket.
I'm pretty pumped! Doesn't take much, I guess.

Re: Wheat pennies
I have quite a few of those and plenty of $2 bills as well. Guess I'll never be broke.

Re: Wheat pennies
That 1919 might be worth a little change, main thing about collecting coins is until they have been graded you never will get thier true value. I would take those that are pristine and put them in thier own plastic sleeve. Due to copper can corrode other coins so if you keep them together they will eventually loose the luster.

Re: Wheat pennies
To revive the color of the copper - try taking a small bit of vinegar (like a half a spoonful) along with a dash of salt to make a paste, then rub the paste on the penny with your fingers. Have heard ketchup works well too since it has the vinegar and salt in it. It's pretty cool to do...and cheap...

Re: Wheat pennies
Do NOT clean them bc collectors will tell u that it will make the value go down. Money is different than cars or guns.
Re: Wheat pennies
You can clean if you know what you are doing, but I wouldnt clean them if i were you. I learned from one of the top coin collectors and sellers in the country that in fact they do clean them but not how you would think and mind you he has been doing this for 40 years plus.turkeyman wrote:Do NOT clean them bc collectors will tell u that it will make the value go down. Found a '35 buffalo head nickel years ago in the driveway. No telling how long it had been there.

Nice find! If in good condition its worth about $500.
Re: Wheat pennies
Well I take that back it has to have SVDB to be $500. See chart below. My dad has been collecting coins for me and my brother since we were born and we go through and price them sometimes.
