Tough digital cameras

I have destroyed about 4 digital cameras over the years taking them hunting/fishing with me.
I need a tough, waterproof, shockproof, easy to use digital camera that can take decent pictures and HD video. Anybody have any ideas on what to get?

I have had a Casio EX-G1 for about a year now. I use it daily for hundreds of pictures. I have dropped it on concrete from 15 feet up, too many times to count. It has been wet, dropped in mud puddles and I have not broken it yet. I went through 6 canon pont and shot cameras last year. If you don't like this one, just fine one with an internal zoom. The expandable/retractable zoom lense is what I have found that causes trouble by letting sand, mud, dirt or water in the insides of one.

Some of the new GPS units have some good built in water/dust proof cameras built in.The Magellan Explorist 610 is what I have and it takes great pics.

Just saw a comercial for a new nikon that is water proof , dust proof and all that good stuff.

This one looks like you can get a good grip on it and it also looks indestructable.

Some of the other 'tough' camera are small and have little buttons that would be hard to deal with when it gets cold.
Does this one take good pics and video?

Don't use the video, but the pics are good. Only trouble I've had is the screen breaking from heavy pressure.......otherwise they are fine. Pentax is warranting a screen break for me right now at no cost since the camera is advertised as shock proof. I had it in my pocket and apparently pressed it up against something really hard.

+1. Great Camera and super tough. Dropped it on asphalt and it just made a scratch on the case. It takes great pictures underwater also.

the main thing i hate about some cameras is the delay when turning it on before it is ready to take a picture and also how long does it take to snap the photo after you press the shutter button? Im torn between the Olympus and the Pentax...any other pros and cons

Got an Olympus Stylus and its pretty tough. Shockproof and Waterproof. Have taken it to about 45ft scuba diving before and never had any trouble out of it

It has a pretty quick shutter speed and pretty nice collection of settings. I don't feel that it takes a long time to start-up either. I have the 10MP model so it is a few models behind. I've seen the new models with 13 or 15 MP (I can't remember) with a built in GPS. It looked pretty sweet. Just can't talk myself into updating because mine still works great. The new models have a regular SD card (I think) but the only complaint I have with mine is that it uses a MicroXD memory card. If you have a built in card reader into your laptop or computer it may not fit in the port. On my Toshiba Satellite, only a SD card will fit. The XD card is wider. So you will have to keep up with the cord to transfer to your computer or get a CD made at Walgreens.
