Romie's Grocery for lunch - close distance from downtown. Meat and 3 at lunchtime and really good steaks in the evening.
Son, be sure to check the oil. The gas will take care of itself. George Carter - Circa 1965

Re: Tupelo
1. Romie's BBQ downtown has great food and a decent selection of beer.
2. Cafe 212 is a great lunch spot also downtown, they don't serve supper.
3. There is also another spot simply called Romie's which is owned by the same guy as the BBQ place. The food is outstanding. It's on West Jackson Street just west of the Gloster Street intersection.
4. For the Elvis history thing you can eat at Johnnie's Drive-In on East Main Street. They serve all day. It's a little hole in the wall where Elvis ate growing up. Not much has changed inside that old place and the dough burgers are famous around here.
Of course if you go up by the mall you will be bombarded with chain restaurants. There is a new locally owned place up there called Crossroads Ribshack that is good as well. Hope this helps.

Papa Vanelli's on North Gloster for Italian. Harvey's on South Gloster for prime rib.

is the dairy barn still there, or is that johnnie's that i'm thinking about (turn east off of 45 and it is on the right side of the road, just before the left turn to go to house elvis grew up in)?? didn't know they had an inside, as i've always just ordered at the window... hard to pass that place up everytime i pass east main. if you've never eaten at a true "dairy bar", you're missing out and there are very few left around! steak finger basket and a large vanilla malt....i didn't say it was health food!
Experience is a freakin' awesome teacher...

It's still there, called Dairy Kream. I've not eaten there in a while either. It is great as well. Just a little west of Johnnie's on East Main Street.donia wrote:drakechaser wrote:... Re: Tupelo
Romies Grocery doesn't open at night until Thursday. Romie BBQ is great night time atmosphere.
Try the roof at Park Heights if open. Try Park Heights...if the company card is in use.
Go to the Blue Canoe one night. Best beer selction in town and great food. Locally owned.
Best Pizza in town is Lost Dog next to Community Bank, good beer and atmosphere....tamales from Greenville....same franchise as the one in Cleveland.
Cafe 212 is a great lunch (with your wife, gf, or side piece)....you will look at little off in there if you are just with another guy, IMO....

Re: Tupelo
+1 on all of the above listed and I will throw in Papa V's for lunch.
Your hunt is only as good as your dog and the people that are with you.
Re: Tupelo
Ms. Ruth's for lunch. The main restuarant is right outside of town in Verona but they have a Ms Ruth's Express in the Gloster Creek Village food court. If it is chocolate cobbler day then you must try it.
Re: Tupelo
Blue canoe... Has the most food for the $$$ and a lot of beer

Re: Tupelo
I was working on a job in Tupelo for about a month last December. I became a regular at Lost Pizza. Try the Jamaican jerk wings and the Otis pizza. Mmmmmmmmm
Re: Tupelo
