Health Insurance

Postby deltahunter49 » Fri Nov 11, 2011 7:37 am

My insurance is provided through the company i work for, however after adding my wife and son under the family package its now draining $150 a week out of my pay check. Any ideas or suggestions for finding a better/cheaper plan. We are with blue cross blue shield now.

If you find something let me know. We have federal blue cross/blue shield and it's $200 a check. I don't understand how mine is that much when government contractors that work with pay like $50 a month.

You can probably check on-line for coverage, but make sure to read the coverages carefully. Pregnancies are not typically covered with most of those on-line policies. When I add my wife to mine in the near future, it'll cost me over $400.00 a month. Then with children....

$150 a month extra to have a wife and child on a group isnt that much at all. On a group pregnancy is usually automatically covered whereas on an Individual Blue Care through BCBS it isnt. You can look around, but I dont think you'll mind much cheaper. The rate you are paying is based on the census of the entire group and at that rate your group appears to either be young or not have alot of issues or a combination of both.

You will find that most people on here would take that rate and probably dance in the street. Mine is $800 and some change a month. Family coverage.

As stated above, your rate doesn't seem that outrageous. I'm 28 and have a 1 month old, neither of us have current or previous health issues, we both have individual policies with BCBS with a $2,500 deductible....mine is $136 and my daughter's is $165 monthly.

From previous experience, an individual policy on a healthy 20 something female with pregnancy coverage will run $400-$500 a month. High as giraffe's "BEARDED CLAM", but better than paying a $10k+ bill on your own if something happens.

Man yall are crazy paying that much for health insurance! Most people hardly ever use their health insurance except for Dr. Visits...

I can give you health coverage, supplemental, dental vision, and all kinds of coverage for 60% less than what you are paying now and if something happens, you'll make money...

The way I have my health insurance... i pay $66/month for my health ins with unlimited dr. visits/prescription coverage..... I have a 15,000 Specified Disease Plan, 25,000 accident plan and I get paid $500/day for every day I'm in the hospital!

I pray every day I get sick or have a car wreck! Not to mention I added a short term disability policy that pays me $2500/month for 12 months to rehab or get better if something happens... All this cost me under $100/month!!!

I dont' know how people pay 1,000/month for health coverage... that's obsurd!!!!

Let me save yall the head ache on this, if you go to ehealthinsurance.com and put your information online, you will get 1,000 of phone calls and you can't get an accurate quote online b/c they just give you the best/most preferred rate without knowing any medications or preexisting conditions.... Sit down with a local advisor, custom design your plan!!!!
